How to Roll or Curve License plate evenly?
« on: July 28, 2016, 12:06:49 PM »

I ordered a curved bracket/plate frame and want to get some ideas on those that had to do this on theirs.
I want to curve it evenly and I have to think some people have a few tricks to make it a smooth process.
Thanks!

Take your plate into Home Depot, go to the Drainage section. Pull out a piece of 4" drainage pipe and gently roll your plate around it.   :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:

I installed the curved plate mounting as well.

It was not even a question in my mind about bending the plate.  I just put it between the two parts and bolted it together.  The plate conformed perfectly to the curve without any kinks etc.

Unless your plate mount is extremely curved, I don't see any need to pre-bend the plate.  At least here in MO the plates are quite flimsy and maybe your state has more money to spend on thicker plate material.

That was my experience also.

I suspect NY Plates may be a tad stiffer then.

This is how I did mine too.

My frame and bracket arrived today.  Didn't need to really roll it much for it to take the proper shape after it was trimmed to fit.  Yes, NY plates are all screwed up.  The holes need to be opened and the edges of the plate need to be trimmed quite a bit.  NY SUCKS!  FUAC....
