Rattle in 2013 CVO Ultra 110
« on: August 23, 2016, 11:41:31 AM »

I noticed a slight rattle in my engine last week (I'm not a wrench or an expert like most members of this panel so pardon my lack of technicality....rattle sort of sounds like when I run bad gas or low octane gas in my bike or perhaps lifters?)  Anyway, I live in Rockford Illinois but I had several bad experiences with the local dealer (Kegel's) so I took it to Boardtrackers in Janesville Wisconsin (Used to be Kutter's but was sold).  The service manager told me that the push rod was bad and it scored the cam, so I needed a whole new cam set, etc.  Out the door, $1,500.  I asked him if he could put it back together so I could get a second opinion and he said it would cost $600-$800 to put it back together and it still wouldn't run, so I told him to go ahead with the new cam job.  Did I get hosed because I don't know much about this engine?  Background info:  I put V&H true duals and monster rounds on bike in January of 2016 and had the dyno done by Valley Racing in Beecher Illinois in February.  It has been running strong since then with increased performance in the 2500-3500 rpm range....Dealer said I wouldn't need another dyno to put it back where it was because they weren't doing anything with the super tuner, just cam, etc.
