Light behind voltmeter gauge
« on: August 24, 2016, 11:06:45 AM »

I've tried searching but as usual I find everything BUT what I'm looking for ::)
On my 2011 FLTRUSE, the light behind my voltmeter gauge is out.
Questions are...
1) is it a bulb or a circuit board?
2) can I change it from the face side or do I have to take the fairing off?

My fairing is coming off to swap out the speedo so...if this is how I have to access the light, I want to do it at the same time.

TIA

It's a bulb inserted from the rear of the gauge. Yes, you will have to take your fairing off.

Good point, thanks Brad.

If I can find some locally that will match what's in there I will. I don't have time to order/wait as I need to get the speedo swap done asap so I can get it registered in Canada.

I had one in my '11 that actually just popped out of the gauge and was just dangling in the fairing from it's plug.  Have fun with that fairing if you've never had it off before.

Thanks, I could only be so lucky...I'll PU an extra bulb just in case it is burnt out.

As for the fairing re/re...I've studied some write-ups and watched a couple vids so have a pretty clear understanding of what needs to be done. Planning to remove headlight assembly to ease the pain of finding the "hooks" on reassembly.
I'll keep you posted as to how many "new words" I've added to my vocabulary!  ;)

While you have it off....do the stud and joiner nut mod to the lower attachment points

sounds like a road glide.  if you don't want to take the fairing off, i have replaced those bulbs on the guages through the headlight holes on my pre-rushmore styled fairing.

I'm not familiar with this mod...can you fill me in? Or post a link that will?

Thanks for the tip!
I'll keep it mind for future issues...this round the fairing has to come off so I can change out my speedo to metric.
