Leaking Head Gasket
« on: September 01, 2016, 10:27:42 PM »

Just picked up my 09 FATBOB CVO earlier this summer with 6,800 miles.
Came with Vance and Hines Dual Slants with the Original chip remapped.

Hitting 8500 miles now and beginning to see a little weeping of oil out the the rear cylinder head.
I have started reading some of the posts in regards to this issue with most seeming to having little luck resolving the issue.
Thinking I will need to spring for a good tuner as well this winter as I get a little popping when backing off at times with the currrent mapping.

Looking for some experienced input in putting this to bed as painless as possible. LOL

Love the bike, grinning ear to ear on every ride.

Thanks for the input

Might just need a new gasket but I know of several '09 110's who's cylinder sleeve migrated. I went through several head gaskets on my '07 UC

I would consider this an opportunity to get the heads cleaned up and shaved for a little extra compression.  I would also have the machinist check to see if the jugs are straight and true.  Since you should install new rings when it's apart, you should also consider bumping it up to a 113"....just saying!!!

Seepage, or dampness always drove me crazy.  But, HD's come a long way.  First new Shovelhead I bought, AMF '76 Model, Head-Gasket after Head Gasket, 'till I had Butterfield's in Roanoke build the Motor, which included workin' and shavin' the Heads.  Then, the Evo I had was bad to seep around the Cylinder base.  Found out that was my fault.  Twistin' it before it warmed up.  Ain't had no trouble with any of my Twin-Cams.  Other than blowin' them all to hell!  Good Engines in my view.  Don't know about the Milwaukee 8's.  Prolly be a long time, if ever, that I own one o' them.  Later--HUBBARD

I got lucky, someone warned me about the warm-up before take off and I listened and never had the problem. Still have the bike because it has been the most trouble free HD I have owned.
