Cleaning carbon from 110 take-off heads
« on: September 07, 2016, 06:51:16 PM »

I have a set of take-off heads left over from a build. I need to get then sold, but need to do some cleaning for sure. Is there something you could recommend that is safe and will get the job done? I may go ahead and do the cylinders too while I'm at it.

Thanks!

Id leave them alone and sell as is. Whoever repairs or rebuilds them will clean them up. You could send them out for rebuild then sell them but most guys have a head guy in mind and like to make their own choices

Granite or black?  If they are black I might be interested in them.

Honestly I'd prefer to buy dirty rather than cleaned.  Don't want to have to trust or think about what abuse someone else might have exercised in the cleaning process or what problems might be suggested by what was there that is now hidden by the fact it is cleaned away.  That patina is part of the history.

Thanks for the replies. The heads are granite and in great shape other than needing to be cleaned up a bit. They only need the little screws that hold on the engine badges. The take-off heads I bought for the project didn't include them, so had to take them off. I can get photos today. Was asking $425 shipped.

Sorry, wasn't my intention to turn this into a sell thread. If a couple were interested feel free to PM me. Thanks!
