How do people hook up a head set to a 2017 CVO LImited? Is there a bluetooth version. If there is does it work?

Bill, in looking at the CVO Limited last Saturday it has headset connections just as always.  I'm not aware of any BT capability other than BT connections to the infotainment unit.  Still have to output audio through the speakers or wired headset as far as I know.  I don't think anything changed on the '17s that isn't on the '14 - '16 Rushmore bikes in this regard.

Be nice to be wrong here but I think that is the way it is.

New Arrivals... Any of these help?

Looks like you found something Mr D.  I do think this is a re-branded Sena S20.  Don't know much about either or capabilities but says it does it all - well except for CB maybe.  Doesn't mention that.  And on intercom I don't know if it is through the bikes infotainment system intercom or through the helmet BT module as the Sena S20 has intercom capability irrespective of what the bike may or may not have.

So why would I get it if it does not work with the Boom system?

That's a great question!

Personally, I'm not sold on wireless Bluetooth.  I still use the wired HD headset in my helmet for CB, intercom, phone, and music.  A wireless Bluetooth will be reliant on batteries, and my riding days frequently go 12-16 hours, and occasionally more.  I just don't want to worry about when my headset will die...

That said, my friend has a '14 FLHXS, and he still has no wired option available for passenger intercom.  When he bought, he had the rider headset and CB added.  We both assumed that HD would soon release some sort of headset connection option like they had for the earlier bikes. (I had it on my '09 FLHX).  So we can communicate easily between bikes, but his passenger is kinda left hangin'.  So the Bluetooth headset might be the only real option for folks who have '14-later bikes that are not wired from the factory with intercom.

the new bluetooth headset is for connection to other bikes that are in your group or to a phone that you have with you

I think the writing is on the wall that CB's are going the way of the dinosaur in new bikes and like it or not blue tooth communication will be the future.  Harley has chose Sena as their supplier and Sena is the leader in Bluetooth communication.  Because of this relationship Sena is presently producing an adapter for their S20 that is wired to the helmet that allows you to communicate via Bluetooth while still being able to communicate with the HD CB.  I purchased one of these to able me to communicate with my wife on her Switchback while still be able to talk with our riding group members via CB.  I returned it due to the quality of the audio vs the quality of straight HD headset wired comm's.
Sena is due to release the "Free Wire" as a means of bridging the gap between present CB comm's and full Bluetooth.  This small unit that will attach to your bars or dash will hardwire connect to the HD 7 pin connector and then send the CB and others via Bluetooth to the S20 headset.  I will say the Sena S20 is a excellent device with multiple capabilities.  It is going to take time for a total transition to take place but again I think the writing is on the wall.

When I was speaking with Sena support regarding the return of my helmet clamp adapter he advised that November was a more realistic date for the Freewire release.
