Front / Rear Suspension
« on: September 18, 2016, 10:36:51 AM »

Hey Guys,
I ride a 2012 SE Ultra, usually loaded pretty heavy (2 up). I am not about seeing how fast I can go, just want a good ride for me and my wife.  My bike is stock as far as suspension goes.  I want to improve the ride front and rear. Suggestions.

If your determined to address both at the same time, personally I would address the stock Harley shock situation first unless of course your seals are gone on the forks and or your at fork service interval which will be your least expensive time to change out the fork internals. For the shocks and ride 2 up I like Works Performance, dual rate spring with ARS; they are made for your weight and passengers weight and if your riding solo flip the lever on each shock, a custom made shock without the custom price tag. For the forks, I have always consulted with Race Tech when it comes to forks and there is always Progressive. Again, call these vendors, let them educate you for free, make whoever you purchase from earn your money. The people at the Service Desk or Parts Counter at the local Harley Dealer have no knowledge of the manufacturing process of their suspension products, sad but true. That is why you contact real suspension people so you can make an educated decision, whether it be Ohlin, Harley, Progressive, Super Shox, Works, Race Tech, etc...

We like the HD Premium stuff front and rear, smooth compliant ride, works well in the Western Sweepers and the Eastern Twisties, 45k miles so far...

The front was the weak link on the '09 SERG.

For any good suspension, the front and rear have to play well together.
