LED tail light for 2005 ???
« on: October 13, 2004, 04:31:15 AM »

I just realized that the led tail light with lens that I bought is probably not going to work on my bike when it gets here. Yeah, I'm still waiting....two more weeks. The thing that I just noticed is that the clear part of the lens for the license plate is on top of the tail light but the 2005 has the license plate below the tail light.  Has anyone with a 2005 changed to the led? Does the 2005 have a separate license plate light? Will an insert that uses the factory lens work? Twolanerider, did you change yours? Thanks in advance for any advice guys.

Think you are right about the tail light with them changing the plate location  [smiley=shocked2.gif] it will not work because your plate won't be lighted.

Can't speak to how the other gentleman's Deuce might be lighting the license plate but on the SEEG you'll be fine.  I thought of the same thing when I took the new LED lamp out of the package and was sitting on my tail behind the bike with the old light already off in my hand.   Then noticed the original stock light lense simply has no provision for license plate lighting above or below.   The license light lamp is on the underside of the light bar.  So if you add the LED (or any other aftermarket lense housing) light that has the normal light provision on top you're still lighting the plate.  You're just also adding a little illumination to that funky low profile chrome luggage rack (or to your passenger's pretty behind?).

BIG thanks, Twolane. I thought that it might have a separate tag light but had not noticed on the one 2005 that I saw in person.

Not a problem.  And I had exactly the same concern as you did.  Only I didn't even think of until I'd started the install.  It looks like all of us 05ers have our very own handy dandy little baby license plate light of our very own.  Almost enough to give a guy the warm fuzzies.....
