Re-Chroming Wheels?
« on: September 23, 2016, 09:01:08 AM »

On older bikes that the wheels are good, but just tiny glitter type flaking (no pits), has anyone ever had their wheels re-chromed in lieu of just replacing them?

Just thought I would ask.

No problems now, but just wanted to know if the time comes on my bike.

Thanks and have a great weekend.

Try Willy Shiny, they do chrome stock wheels & exchange for OE. Maybe they are capable of doing yours. Having anything rechromed is expensive now, but Advance in Nashville will do them for sure, just will be expensive.

Thanks Don

I'm not in the need right yet, but I had my front wheel go out with the little tiny flecks.  You couldn't even feel them with your finger running over the spots.  So maybe just a "layer" of the chrome comes off.

My bike is out of warranty now and the front wheel being replaced after a couple years, the rear is still original and just making sure I have an avenue to getting a fix if needed later on.

Thanks again for the suggestions.
