When my new GMR 113 was put together, Steve gave me instructions about heat cycling, then insisted I not ride it with any kind of borrowed map, but told me to have it dyno tuned immediately.

My tuner did the break in on the dyno then did the tune, so there is nothing wrong with doing it that way.

Harley Dealers in Las Vegas don't and won't dyno a Harley before it is broken in; that has been my experience, that is where I was going with my line of questions.

Why not break them in on a dyno with controlled conditions?

I need a tuner to answer this one.
A tune under controlled conditions; are you saying other tuners aren't tuning under controlled conditions and if so which tune would be better?

I think he means tuning/breaking in on a dyno is under controlled conditions vs breaking in riding it on the street, which is not under controlled conditions.

I sure am saying that ! When we redid my '11 we put it on the dyno  , 30 min later broken in , then tuned. Able to control the most critical variable ...HEAT...

Again, as my post read, I need a tuner for this one. I have had tunes done on my bikes in 3 different regions in this country by some of the so-called best through out the years in the Northeast, Southeast and Southwest Harley Dealers and Independents. Every time I had to sign a waiver releasing liability of the Shop and Tuner should the engine malfunction and or suffer any catastrophic episode while being tuned; at no time was I ever offered a controlled tune.

I know the local Harley Dealership don't tune / dyno new motorcycles until they are broken in, that my be more of a transmission and primary issue, because my complete motor rebuild break in was 50 miles.
