Trunk gun
« on: October 16, 2016, 07:12:23 PM »

I am considering these two:  Winchester Model 94 30-30 or Mossberg 500 12 gauge?

Those that do, what do you use?

AR pistol with sig brace.  It's not a SBR so you can travel to most states. Short enough to use from inside vehicle during civil unrest.   Very effective to 200 yards.   I was very glad I had it in Ferguson,  MO.  I had a business meeting there the day they handed down the ruling on the justified shooting by the officer.

If you are defending against being 'meals on wheels' in remote areas, I'd run the 30-30.

Depending on your reason to have it in the trunk remember, if it is for defense, the gun in the trunk won't help unless you also have a handgun close by in the passenger compartment. For defense I prefer the Mossberg 5oo 12 gauge. I would load it with # 4 field shot and 00 buck alternating them for best effect.

Lord Have Mercy Mikeytee, I'm please to know we're friends so I don't need to worry about getting on your bad side... I'd choose the 12 gauge also.

For your defense......scatter guns forever. I even step it up a notch with a Catamount Fury II. 3 1/2" multi-mag with 2, 10 rnd clips. No think auto-loader with alternating #1 buck(40 pellets per) and slug......in case the perpetrator decides distance is his friend!!

I always have a hand gun.  Trunk guns are only in the trunk when traveling and the world is at peace.  My trunk gun rides right next to me when I need to be somewhere that can be truly dangerous.  Since I travel a fair amount by car for work, I keep it so I can get home safe and sound,  maybe deaf but safe.  I carry 120 rounds with it.   This might sound like overkill but you never know what you will need, so be over prepared.  If the world flies apart I at least have the bare necessities.   One of the wisest instructors I ever had said, the easiest way to win a gun fight is to avoid it if at all possible, if you fight, fight to win!
