In Canada, you get charged if you carry a knife that's to long. Guns?? What are guns? LOL.

I will carry long guns in the truck (shotguns and my rifles). I have two pistols that ride up front with me either a Winchester 38 special or my fav a SW 45 PS.  Wherever I go one of those two are with me.  I do have a concealed carrying permit as well.

So,  Just how long is (too) long.  My buddies and I used to make annual trips fishing out of Sioux Lookout, Ontario and we all had filet knifes that were around 6" to " or so and sometimes had those in sheafs strapped to our belts.  Never heard of that being a problem. :confused5:

I do love my Mossberg 500, it was the cruiser at the time(long time ago), came with wood stock &26in barrel, and the 18.5in barrel with heat sheild and rear pistol grip. updated with pistol grips front and rear, side saddle shell holder was the truck gun for years. also have the DBL coach gun for fun, but i love the point and spread of the pump and extra capacity.

No point in a trunk gun. The .45 on my hip will suffice for any need other than SHTF. If it comes to SHTF, the long gun won't be in the trunk where it's inaccessible. Tough call on choice of long gun. One of my ARs would fit the bill but, the MP5 is my favorite. Then there is the G3. It's a bit heavy and bulky but, long or short range is covered.

Don't have a trunk in my Cherokee Trail Hawk, but do have a FN five seven in the vehicle and carry my P938.

in Maine  ?     I guess trouble is trouble  ;)     4myself  probably the mossy,  just to get the hell out of there.    ;)

Not in Maine any longer.  I am now in Southern CA.  The place where you need a CCW permit the most, you just can not get one.  Even shopkeepers who deal with mostly cash are not allowed.

I failed to mention that I keep a Ruger SR9c 9mm under the front seat.  Of course, it is in a locked case with the ammo separate.  Otherwise, it is a felony and LEO are serious about this stuff here.

I had the good fortune to meet a retired special forces guy.  Good guy, and totally together as the other one I met in my life seemed to be.  He recommended the Mossberg, so that's what I have done.  Of course, it has to be in a case, and lockable if I am in 1000 feet of a school, and the ammo separate, but that is fine.  I have been in a social breakdown situation once in my life and there was time to get things ready.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts.  It was interesting to see what others are using these days.

I agree and it increases the chance of theft. If a weapon is not on the person it's not under their control and kind of defeats the purpose of having it for a rapid response to a problem.
Otherwise if you want to transport a weapon on a bike but aren't planning to use it for rapid self defense you should consider a vault for secure transport.

Every time I see this thread pop up I immediately think of a gun mounted in the Tour Pak (trunk) ala James Bond to discourage tailgaters and other miscreants.
