30 Horsepower V&H kit
« on: October 26, 2016, 09:26:37 AM »

I first saw @ Biketoberfest that V&H has developed a kit that if installed as sold is supposed to provide 30 additional HP. Small print says example is a 2013 103. Seems if bought from a 20% outlet it would be about $2400.00 + labor. Then today I go a mailer from V&H that provided some info on it. Complete exhaust, Air Filter, 575 Cams w/adj pushrods, FP3 with special programming & a V&H cam cover. Sales guy was predicting labor charges @ $300 - $400 depending on hourly rate (6 Hours).
Not something that I need at this time but I wondered if anyone else has bought in yet?

They are saying 30 Hp gain with just cams, pipe, their FP and  AC, without adding any compression or head work?? Gotta see that one  to believe it!  How about real real world dyno sheets to back up the claim??

Don,  From your description, this sounds like a stage 2 Kit and not an inexpensive one.  30 hp,  ...  Where? What's the torque gain? Remember, these motorcycles are more like busses than sport bikes.  I want to see the dyno sheets. If it's 30 peak horsepower for that price, how often are you going to use it? I guess my question is what do you want to accomplish? Only by looking at the dyno sheet will you even get an idea whether or not this kit will accomplish what you want. If you're not going to get significant more power off the line, is it worth the money to you?

Just my $.02.

BTW, here was my take on the Fullsac stage 1 kit:  Re: 2015 RGU: I'm Blue... So Blue...

I thought it to be very expensive. They did have dyno sheets, I didn't check but maybe they are online. I was in no way suggesting this to be a good deal, or even believable, just wondered if anyone else had seen or considered purchasing it. One thing for sure, they will sell some of them, per the sales guy they already have people pre-ordering them. Hum???

Thanks.  If that's an accurate chart, it is impressive.  It would be nice to see the numbers on the graph.  There are far more knowledgeable folks here but I know the Torque and HP lines cross at 5250 rpms.  That tells me that V&H claims a lot more power early on and throughout the rev range.  Curious that both charts die off at that point though.  With the Fulsac / TTS Stage 1, the redline is raised...    I agree:   :nixweiss:

That dyno graph / chart is very fishy.  Did both stock and the kit fall dead at 5250 RPM?  Thats is what it looks like as they both die where torque and HP cross.  If as on most dyno graphs the lines are 10 ft pound, then its only showing a 20 gain max.

Im also not buying it on a 103.  I had a very well built 110, which had head work, pistons with compression, bigger throttle body, and bigger injectors, cam and was only about 30HP over stock.

I would be curious to see what the good builders on this site think.

The very fact it has no torque or hp increments gives them an automatic " get out of jail card"
against any liability for false claims, ie this chart can't say it produces X amount of torque at say 2500rpm because it doesn't! , we all know where the increments should be, but never assume that's what they rely on to get sales.
At best they'd say this chart is a "suggested typical power curve "
nope I don't buy into this one !!

X-2 !, I'm not a builder but damn come on!. That's a "marketing" dyno chart. How about some specifics, SAE or STD??

I know the Torque and HP lines cross at 5250 rpms.
That's only true if the HP and TQ scales are the same; if they aren't, the intersection can be almost anywhere.  Most of the time, the graphs we see on here are scaled alike, so they cross at 5250, but we've had a few here that are fudged.  This one from V&H is so hosed, without any numbers, it's worse than useless.  Hard to imagine any professional company putting out that kind of cr@p.
