« on: October 30, 2016, 11:35:04 AM »

Looking for tried & true feedback on factory 47 assault bar on a Rushmore ?
Sure looks like a nice quality bar, beefy with a 1.5 OD
How's the comfort of hand position ?

They look a bit wider than yaffe's bar.  I have the 12" LA choppers twin peaks on my 14 FLHXS with stock cables.  They are not as wide and have a more subtle peak at the top, you can also utilize stock mirrors since the 12's don't block the mirrors.  They are also considerably cheaper than the Yaffe and F47 options.

Shoot me a PM with your number and I can text you some pics if you'd like of the Twin Peak bars.

I know its not the same but I put  new set on my Road Glide and love them. Their grip angle is a little different as well. Good quality and customer service was a lot of help with me getting the right height and pull back. My bike has  a drop seat kit that makes me sit further back and lower. She also wanted to know my height and sleeve length and I explained what I was trying to accomplish. Factory 47 was great.

I had Yaffe 14" on my 12 SERG and have them on my 13 SERK.  My 15 SERGU I wanted the Yaffe but after 5 months of trying to get them I went with 14 Factory 47.  My 17 SESG has Yaffe 14" on it.

My take on the two bars.  First thing I noticed on the 15 when the Factory 47 were put on was they felt shorter.  They were, as I measured both.  14" factory 47 were 12.5 from grip to bar clamp and the Yaffe were 14.5 measured the same way.  The Factory 47 are wider than the Yaffe and the Factory 47 are thicker which in my opinion looks better.  Grip angles are pretty similar, both are comfortable on 750 miles days.

Strange thing is my 14" Yaffe on my SESG feel taller than my 14 Yaffe on my SERK.  Not sure if its due to how a bar is designed for the SESG or if the angle is different, will check today,

I have no problem with either bar, and like them both.  The 17 got the Yaffe cause I could get them in black faster.

I have 14 Wild One Reapers on my Roadglide and 14 Yaffee's on my Street Glide. Like Dave I went with the Yaffee's because they were readily available in black. So far I really like them and they do seem higher than the Reapers. Wrist angle comfortable on both

How'd the install go with the MB ? pulling the wires through in particular?

Thanks Dave for the detailed info  :2vrolijk_21:
The 47, being wider is a concern for me. their website measures 39" tip to tip vs. 36" for the MB
That's a measurable difference to make a difference in comfort. As far as rise goes, It was told to me by an Indy that Yaffes' measurement is higher than other mfr's
How was the MB install?

Dealer has done all mine.  I do most my other work did bars once and swore never again.

Dealer tells me CAN bus bikes are easier than the older bikes.

Local dealer wanted 1500 for install and bars, I laughed at that one.  I bought the bars I wanted, bought the 4" extensions and did them myself. Did a bit of cursing on pulling the wires through, but a few hours later, good to go.  Saved $1200 bucks, the 14+ models are all plug and play with the wiring.  If you go with a bar larger than 12" you'll need to extend lines....

If straightforward to do if you have a service manual and an afternoon.  Helps to have someone to assist with the wire pull.  Lots of posts/videos on best practices of doing this yourself.

True, and I had them add the 17 CVO limited heated grips to my 17 SESG.  Look just like the grips that came on bike, but heated now.
