I recently bought a 2016 CVO ROad Glide Ultra.  I was planning on using the Screamin' Eagle High-Flow Exhaust System with Nightstick Mufflers exhaust to move the cat away from my wife's foot and to keep my warranty.

With that I would end up having to buy the tuner from Harley to show a proper down load for the bike. The problem is Harley has no tune for that exhaust and the only tune you can select is a stage 1 down load and that is what is already in it. I find it hard to believe that Harley has not created a more specific tune for this exhaust. You can select the exhausst in the software but it clears all calibration

Has anyone put this exhaust on and not bought the tuner and been happy with it? If you did buy the tuner what calibration did you use to start? I even checked the old Screamin' Eagle super tuner software and that is the same as the new tuner just a stage 1 download

That system is also available with street cannon mufflers & you choose your style of end cap. nicer appearance IMO
You'll still need a custom tune to operate at its full potential, not just using a canned map.
I'd find a tuner that knows how to tune & use the flash tuner that he has mastered in using.

The system with street cannons is not compatible with the CVO( think its a sound thing) . For me the point is Harley should have a better tune for it if they are making you buy the tuner and are saying it is EPA complaint . Then if you decide you want more out of it you get a dyno tune . To buy a tuner just to put the same tune it it that is already in it is silly. This exhaust seems to be a little better flow than just a stage 1 and using the stage 1 down load I would think it would run lean and hot.

Hoping to hear from people who have put it on and did not buy the tuner. Or if you did how much you had to play with it to get it right.

Harley states not compatible with CVO is it will not be EPA compliant
On your bone stock CVO, if you purchased a flash tuner (TTS, Power Vision) & had your bone stock CVO tuned properly, the manners & driveability would be like a different bike.. the MoCo due to EPA restrictions have these bikes set so lean with air/fuel mixture.
There are a few members here that have used this system & are pleased with the result when tuned properly.

Mr.D

I agree with you but I am also trying to maintain my warrenty so a diff tuner will not work.
Buying a full Harley Davidson exhaust you would think they would have a tune for it. I am not unhappy with how the bike runs now. I like this system from the idea it moves the car back and gets it away from me and the wife.
To spend 1500+ on their exhaust and tuner and still have to pay for a dyno because they don't have a tune remotely close is silly.

I have used non harley tuners and exhaust in the past but with the new rules and not knowing what hassles you could get with warrenty work I am trying to stay compliant

But the issue comes if Harley says you need the tuner from them even though it is only putting the same stage 1 tune that is there already and you have an issue they could deny your warranty.

I am not arguing with you or Mr. D I agree an aftermarket tuner is the way to go but with all this EPA stuff we do not know how things will pan out if you have an issue. I do think my dealer would not have an issue but if you are traveling and have an issue it could be a problem.

Does your bike currently have a SEST or completely stock?

Currently completely stock

In doing any mod, you're going to need a flash tuner for full optizimation
You no longer can purchase from HD,,, TTS or Powervision would be the only two i'd use

Mr D not disagreeing with you but that will void the warranty(potentially) and if I am going to do that there are other systems I could put on that would be better

I fully understand,, When it comes to remaining factory warranty,, doing any mod after a customer takes delivery with in time is not helping the consumer.. It's a very, very fine line Re: factory warranty.

Reality of it,  You'll have to make a decision on what your goal is wanting to swap out the exhaust. I agree they're are other systems that will do better at a much more bang for the buck.. One of them is on this site here.... Steve @ FullSac... proven over & over with his products.

Best wishes moving forward in what you decide to do... Ride safe

For stock, stage1, and mild cam builds, and baffled exhaust, just return the ECM to stock calibration. I believe both TTS and PV are capable.
When you get the bike back reflash the tuned calibration back into the ECM.
