I feel this is a tough one...I have several GPSs.

Garmin Etrex Summit (no-WAAS, built in compas)
Garmin ETrex Mariner (WAAS, no compass)
Then on the Boat I have some Raymarine units.

The questions to ask is how do you want to use it?

The comparison of units may help in your decision.

I have the garmin 2620. It made me sick to spend the $1,200 on it ( you can get it on line now for about $1000) but I would do it again in a heartbeat. All the info comes built in, nothing to down load. It will find damm near anything for you, like ATM's, gas, food, hotels etc. You can tell it..no express ways, no dirt roads, fastest route, shortest route the list goes on and on.  I had a meeting in Austin TX, so I rented a bike for a day. Zip tied the GPS to the bars and took off...went down roads that looked good......took roads that the locals said were good....never really knew or cared where I was....when I was low on gas I would just have the GPS fine the nearest station...at the end of the day I
had it set a route back to the hotel and made it back in time to go out for a few drinks.
If I was even able to find these roads on a map, I would have spent way too much time on the side of the road looking at the map instead of riding Thats just one example I have many. Do yourself a favor and get a GPS. Do yourself a big favor and get one that comes out of the box ready to use. Take Care [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif].

I run a Garmin GPS V on my bike. Its small enough to be convienent and holds about 19mb of detail info.
Last month I was about 150 miles from home when a friends bike (Yamaha) broke down with a burned stator. I turned on the gps and it found and  took me to the nearest Autozone where we bought a new battery so he could drive his bike back home.

I used it a lot in Colorado last month. I liked knowing where I was on roads I did not know.

I use the Garmin 2610 with a 1GB memory card. It is attached to the handlebars with a chrome Ram mount. I won't go on a trip with out it!

I think they pretty much covered the good stuff it has lots of stuff from post offices, gasstation, police, motels, resturants.  But what i like is when traveling all i need is an address an it will guide you there plus it will keep track of your trip mileage, time on the road, time stopped ,total trip time, aveage speed, total aveage and maximum speed.  As a surveyor I us this stuff all the time.

I should be able to put some of the systems and pricing up on the site over the weekend.  The link that i posted earlier in this thread may help with some questions.
