I have just ordered Tom Tom GPS software to fit on my mobile phone. It utilises the blue tooth connection to a blue tooth GPS antenna.

Magoo that thing looks to be pretty vulnerable to the elements.  Is it water tight in the driving rains when you're doing 70 MPH?

Yes it is water proof not water resistant,  The screen with the trip info is coming home from Sturgis this year.  I just love the info this thing has.  JC I have it plumb into the cigerette lighter inside the fairing so it runs off the bike when runnig and keep the batteries in it for when we are stopped so it keeps working(logging time) batteries last along time that way.

I had a Garmin street III on my last bike and it was fine. On the SE I bought the new 2610 with the touch screen. I like it much better. Works fine with gloves on. Water will not be any problem.

I installed it with power from inside the fairing, and have the sound going into the AUX in the Harley sound system. I run down the road with the GPS on and the CD going. Than when I need the GPS voice the just flip the control on the bars from CD to AUX
( 5 times gets you to AUX) and I can hear the GPS, than when I don't need it one push gets you back to CD.

I like using the Harley sound system, that way I can adjust the vol for the GPS and I can hear it on the road, you know how  the wind can be at    at       65mph

It worked great on the Posse ride this year, 7800 miles and never made a wrong turn.
Found food and gas any place.

Hey Dean,
I also use the 2610 for the same reasons you described. Where did you hook it up in the fairing. Do you have any pics. I made an adapter without the speaker to use in the cigarette lighter.

When I was looking at units I looked at the 2610 & 2620 but for what I was going to be doing the street pilot was fine besides they where twice the price and just been released.

I have the hot going to the lighter on the inside of the fairing.

I bought the garmin cable that is for power and external speaker part #010-10477-01
for $35.00

Bought all of it from gpscity.com . I just went their on the web and the unit is selling for $749.00 and garmin now has a $100.00 rebate on it.

For $649.00 it is a good unit.

I ran the wires into the fairing by useing the hole for the clutch cable. Than I took off the cover that has the spot light and other switches and drilled a small hole so I could run the garmin speaker cable into the Harley AUX

At night on the road, I just take off the unit from the bar mount and put it in the trunk.

The 2610 has no battery power so when I want to keep it on ( gas , food ) I just flip the Harley switch to aux and it has power.

When the posse ride was over and I was back home it said:

drive time : 127:51       (hours)
stopped time : 37.05:22
total time : 164:57

The unit was off each night.
