Hi All:

Probably other posts around here, but I've been waiting for Sena's "Coming Soon" to turn into "It's available".

http://www.sena.com/product/freewire/#inthebox

Unfortunately for some this only works with the SENA headsets, but adds bi-directional functionality with a wireless (BT) headset.

I just added this to my Christmas wish list.

Cheers,

Mark

Hopefully someone will give us a review of the FreeWire before I lay out over $300.00 CND due to our crappy dollar value.  I purchased their wired solution to work with the CB and Sena S20 and returned it due to poor sound et al.  I'm getting tired of my Harley 7 pin cord constantly coming disconnected from my helmet.

First, I have NOT used this unit personally.  I did read on another forum tho that someone there bought it and loves it.  Works as advertised, allowing any and all Boom Infotainment functions to now work wirelessly.

One big caveat tho is that the Freewire unit ONLY works with Sena's 20S or 10S headsets.  The 20S is apparently the top of the line headset and goes for over $200.  Big investment to get rid of one cable :(  I had high hopes but with the total cost approaching or over $500....  I don't think I was that good this year that Santa will pay for that. lol

The reason I am interested is that my wife rides a Switchback and we have the S20's if we go riding just by ourselves however I am also a ride captain for our riding group and have to communicate via CB to sweeps etc so I am presently switching helmets back and forth between the Harley headset and the S20.  My wife loves the S20 because it also has the FM channel built in so she has tunes all the time.  So the Freewire would allow me to go down to one helmet setup and speak to and listen to everyone.  Sena has also become HD's Bluetooth of chose.
I am having a hard time convincing members of the group to switch to Bluetooth over CB.  We now have 6 2017's being rode and they all had CB's installed.

The review on LAB says at least three times that CB and phone work.   https://www.lawabidingbiker.com/sena-freewire/
If your experience is first-hand, maybe there is a setting you are missing or something?

I am being patient waiting for Santa.  Maybe I will post my own experience and opinion.  After our little cold snap (brrr 40's) we are looking at 70s for the weekend!!! :coolblue:

Best Regards,

Mark

It unfortunately does not work with the Current boom systems installed on the Motorcycles.

Fred 786.... Just an FYI . I had same issue with my wired headset and I made kind of a service loop around the main part that the boom comes out of and added a little tye rap to the boom. Haven,t had a problem since.

Thanks SpirtKid.  I already returned it and now looking at the Freewire as the solution and so far from the limited reviews available seems to be working good.  Think I am going to order one through Eastern Performance as they have 10% off over Christmas and have it sent to our Florida home to save duties etc.
Dave and Bakon you are correct that the 20s does not connect to the boom and that is Harleys fault.  However the new Freewire added to the bike along with the 20s allows for full connectivity.
I think it is a joke that HD is now selling Sena headsets as their official Bluetooth and their Boom system has no standalone connectivity to these.  Will they change this or will they continue to make the money selling add on's.  At this time Honda is the only other manufacture I am aware of that has no connectivity like HD.
