P2176 code question
« on: December 24, 2016, 01:24:13 PM »

Merry Christmas Everyone!

My RK has been sitting for a few months and yesterday I got a chance to take it out for a ride. The “Check Engine” light came on some time during the ride (I’m not sure exactly when). The bike seemed to be running fine but I took it home.

This morning I pulled these codes:

P0132 – Front O2 Sensor High
P2176 – EFI Closed Position Not Learned
B1210 – Fuel Sensor Shorted/Low/Fuel Gauge Circuit

I was able to clear two of them and they didn’t reoccur but P2176 is still active. Can you give me any insight to what the issue is and what, if anything I can do to fix it?

Could there be a restriction on the throttle?    Here's what the service manual said for a 2011  (That's the only one I have but the code should be the same?)
"The TAC system sets DTC P2176 when the ECM determines
the zero position of the throttle plate has not been successfully
learned.
At power up, the ECM adjusts the throttle plate to the limp home
position, then begins to move the throttle plate closed.
The ECM monitors and verifies the amount of movement that
occurred. The throttle plate minimum position is held briefly
then verified against the expected minimum and maximum
range of throttle. If the zero position is found within range, then
the position is stored.
If the ECM is not able to learn the minimum position or if the
learning fails four consecutive ignition cycles, the ECM initiates
DTC P2176."

"Air Inlet Interference Test
1. Inspect the air inlet and check for foreign debris and/or
mechanical interference to the throttle plate.
2. Were any issues found?
a. Yes.
b. No. Replace the induction module. See the service
manual."

Thanks a lot!! I'll check it out and let you know what I find. I have the service manual and CVO supplement but not the electrical supplement. I'll be making a run to the dealership Monday to pick one up.

Connector pins at throttle body connector have been known to have issues. I have replaced all on my 09.

It appears that I got it fixed. The problem was at the throttle control actuator connector. Thanks for the help!
