And now, in the "What's the Point" department...
« on: January 07, 2017, 11:00:02 AM »

I came upon this rather odd GoldWing on Arkansas 7 back in 2014.

I simply ask, what is the point?

I expect (but have not seen) the marketing materials to claim that the front end is more safe, stable and a smoother suspension than a regular Trike.  Further to your question, however, why not just get a convertible?   :nixweiss:

Not sure how some states would classify that conversion.....4 wheels on the road would make it a car in many states so then you need seatbelts and no need for helmets etc.........
I could see someone with age or disability issues wanting to ride without fear dropping the bike. As stated above it's as close to a convertible as you can get, My guess is the rider didn't want to give up the bike rider image though......
As with hot rodding a car/truck this conversion is more for the emotion and not the economic sense.

Looking at the photo, it appears to be part of a group of Goldwing Trikes. It might be for someone with severe physical limitations who LOVES motorcycled and can't ever give it up. Or,...it could be that out of the group of Trikesters, he's the one guy who just has to have the newest and radical one of a kind Custom Vehicle. Not that any of us here know what that's like.

Good point Mark.  A one off is always well, unique at the least.

Maybe a Goldwing fell in love with a Spyder and they had a baby?  :nixweiss:

I think it may be a transgender Gold Wing. Special bathroom and parking required?

Nothing anymore surprises me.  When I go to the rallies its always a laugh or WTF.  I myself am getting old and don't even want to think about not being able to have the freedom of the road but with that said just get a small convertible car.  Come On Man  !!!

Interesting.  All the trikes and (quad?) are all the same color too!  It does make you wonder what set of laws will that fall under automobile or motorcycle?

My guess is this one's owned by someone who can't hold up the weight of a bike anymore, and didn't care for the strange feel of a trike.  Maybe they're handicapped or were in a bad wreck on a bike once.
It's a beautiful rig, but not my cup of tea, nevertheless...to each his/her own!  I
'd just as soon pull a small trailer behind a Jeep or our Audi A5 cabby when I get too old for the weight.
