Well I'm out of warranty so gonna have to buy new one. I'm gonna take tomorrrow and have tested.
When in doubt the first step should be to check all battery connections (at the battery and the starter). If clean and tight, with no voltage drop across any of the connections, then have the battery load tested. Starting batteries, bike or car, seem to have a much wider range of service life these days (in my opinion due to excessive cost cutting in the production processes). Some might fail in one year, some might fail in three or four years, and the really good ones might last six or more years. It's a crap shoot.
As for the posts about the key fobs, I don't doubt the veracity of those members but I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around how a fob whose only function is to turn off the security system could possibly affect engine cranking. I'd love to see someone explain exactly how that happens. The security system is either off or on, and once it's off the engine should crank normally. Unless of course Harley has found a way to screw up that old simple technology.
