Surely a 2014 problem isn't still a problem in 2017

"critical malfunction of a clutch assembly"

I wonder if they are going to finally fix that compensator design.

Would have thought HD had the clutch thing figured out, since they've had since 1903.

Hydraulic clutch actuation is very old technology.  It takes real talent to screw it up, and the past three years prove just how talented the folks from H-D really are.  And that's not counting whatever this latest situation might be.

I don't think Harley's had a clutch until 1915 when they came out with 3-speed transmission .

Not sure where all my fluid goes in a "closed system" but I have lost my clutch twice due to low levels.   Not one drop anywhere and MC says that my 15 cvo isn't part of the recall.  Hmmmmmm

If the fluid is leaking at the actuator, you won't ever see drops of fluid.  The fluid will be in the trans.  Also, the fluid line from the M/C to the actuator has been known on previous models to leak into the outer covering.  Regardless, I assume your 15 is still in warranty.  If it is, make them fix it.  If it's out of warranty, contact H-D anyway.  Also record your complaint with the NHTSA.  Those complaints are what can lead to investigations and recalls.  If you lose the ability to release the clutch, it is definitely a safety defect as evidenced by the fact they've had to do safety recalls.  Just because H-D claims your bike isn't included in the recall doesn't mean you don't have that same problem.  They had to repeat the recall because they assumed they had fixed it previously but in fact did not.

Thanks for the correction.  Let me change my post:  Would have thought HD had the clutch thing figured out, since they've had 102 years.

Wow, I just test rode my 2015 RG Ultra after putting Fullsac stage 1 kit and came back with clutch fluid on my hand. I checked the HD recall website and my VIN shows no recall. I called the Dealer Service to set up an appointment  and the tech told me it was a recall and they had plenty of parts to fix it. Maybe Harley doesn't want to issue the recall for all bikes? My 2003 FLHRSEI has what I think was the first hydraulic clutch actuation and has never had a problem. So what did they change?
