Sirius radio plans
« on: February 02, 2017, 01:41:07 AM »

Wondering what others are paying for the radio subscription for the 2014 and up Sirius radio

I have a truck and a car at about $150 each a year for radio and travel link plus traffic.  Basic plan is 99 plus taxes and fees and options.

Was offered same on bike in September and could
Suspend service five months till 2/1/17. Then suspend it again till riding season in April or
May.

Well I called today and was told I was misinformed and have to activate it now. Pittsburgh means snow possibly anytime till mid April so I had to cancel.
Girl in India offered a second radio for house when I said I couldn't use bike radio. I don't think she ever understood what a riding season, snow and can't ride or use it meant.

Anyways I like the service. Just don't want to pay for six months it sits. Or only gets ridden for a day when warm and salt washed off road. Got other options for those days.

I just have traffic & weather about $6 a month. Can change if I want for summer but I like my music & Sirius channel names make no sense to me. Change you plan to minimum for winter mate.

Cheers Major Tom

I've had satellite radio since it began.

When I first canceled all my service a few years ago, they kept offering me better and better deals, which I rejected until they offered me 6 months service for $25.  When the 6 months expired, and they wanted to charge $300 per year from then on, I'd tell them to suspend service for the non-riding season.  After years of Sirius re-activating my service in mid-February, without me knowing it until I'd get a bill for several months of unused service, I've told them to pack sand.

I found that tuning in the same time each day, I'd hear the same songs as the day before.  I can do that with a CD or mp3...for free.

I did like having satellite radio in the wide-open spaces headed to Sturgis, but they aren't worth it.

I like having the Doppler radar on my bike! It has helped me avoid the rain several times!
So I pay only for the actual subscription on the bike, and then I stream it through my iPhone in any other vehicle that I want.
When I travel in other vehicles I use the WAZE app, It has the best traffic and warns of lots of other stuff too! All the while streaming sirius!    Gotta have my Howard Stern on long drives.
That will give you the benefit of Sirius with anything you drive and still have it on the bike while lowering your annual cost.

I used the Sirius until the free trial ended, then I just stream Pandora, when I run out of cell service in the hills, I have a flash drive with my iTunes music loaded and switch to that.

I'm on the $25 for 6 month plan per radio also.  I had to threaten cancellation due to high costs go get this and have to remember to call every 6 months in order to get it again before they raise the rates to the normal ~$150 each.  FYI, this lower level of service does not include all channels, primarily missing some of the NFL channels.  Call the cancellation number 866-635-2349 to get the cheaper rate.

I guess it just really depends if you are ok with the cost. I got it back when I got my silverado SS back in 2006. Back then it was worth it. Like everything else though the price creep gets old. After ten years of having it I got tired of paying more, not to mention I was hearing less music and hearing more of the DJs blab on about their social media pages. I paid for music, not to hear idiot talk. It was an easy decision for me.

I call them April 1st tell them I just received an email for $24.99 for 6 months.
Tell them to bill you with tax and fees it comes out to $30.00. They turn it on and send me a bill.
I call them the last week of September and tell to shut me off they will try to get you stay on just insist that they shut it off. I have been doing this for about 5 years now and no problems. You do have to call to shut off or they will bill you at the going rate.

Same here.

I did let the bike lapse, however.  I ride all year but not many trips in the winter season (mostly around town/mountains/work) so it's a waste to me since there are local FM stations I like...and I have my iPod.   I'm thinking I'll renew the bike for the 5 months "special" for $24 (plus tax and $2 extra to send me a bill instead of charging to my credit card....that $2 means they don't get my credit card number) and use it this Summer on our Yellowstone/Oregon/Utah adventure.
I've never paid more than the $24/vehicle/5 months since getting into Sirius a few years ago.  You have to dicker with them sometimes but they always come back to that offer.

And I thought putting a quarter in the juke box for three songs was expensive back in the day.......    :P

IPay I believe around 270 for my Ram and that is everything including the apps satellite Etc. I have it in my company car, my wife's car, and my daughter's car around 125 each.  I never put it on my street glide because I use the Sirius app on my phone or a thumb drive so there's no reason to buy the module. Now that the CVO has everything I'm not sure if I will pick it up or still do the same.

Last time I negotiated 59 dollars for 6 months, this was everything, the XM subscription, Traffic and Weather.
