I've had satellite radio since it began.

When I first canceled all my service a few years ago, they kept offering me better and better deals, which I rejected until they offered me 6 months service for $25.  When the 6 months expired, and they wanted to charge $300 per year from then on, I'd tell them to suspend service for the non-riding season.  After years of Sirius re-activating my service in mid-February, without me knowing it until I'd get a bill for several months of unused service, I've told them to pack sand.

I found that tuning in the same time each day, I'd hear the same songs as the day before.  I can do that with a CD or mp3...for free.

I did like having satellite radio in the wide-open spaces headed to Sturgis, but they aren't worth it.
that is exactly why I no subscription to sirus xm. the pain is not worth the gain!! >:( >:(

I let my initial subscription expire on a new vehicle, then never re-up it.  Have done that for years.  The only pain involved is continually having to answer the phone calls from them after that.
We have close to a terabyte of MP3's available to us, and have whittled that down to about 50GB of riding tunes for the bike, and then around 62GB for the Audi.  I have the same 62GB of the music we like the best on my S7 phone running Poweramp, so I can bluetooth that music anywhere.
I can't see spending $100+ per year on a vehicle just for music.  I know, I know...to each his own.
On the other hand, if I was buying Sirius or XM for 3 vehicles each year, in ten years, I've spent $3,000.  On music.  That I never owned, and won't be able to pull up again when I want to hear it.  $3,000 will buy around 500+ CD's from Half.com.  That's a heckuva lotta music, my friends.

I just have traffic & weather about $6 a month. Can change if I want for summer but I like my music & Sirius channel names make no sense to me. Change you plan to minimum for winter mate.

When you purchase the traffic and weather subscription only do they display weather maps and traffic jams over your gps maps automatically?   Is it better than the weatherband info that comes across the radio WB feature?

I will say it again- don't care why you don't have it

Only care about what deal and how you got it....

I have it in my truck, I have a downsized plan, pay $6/month.  Has their most popular stations, which suits me because I pretty much listen only to "the highway" (country).  I got that price by reading the mail flyer they sent and calling and changing to it (used to have a full yearly plan that was $20ish/month)

Just got off the phone with them and the only deal they would give me is the select plan for $36 for 6 months. Picking up the new bike in 4 weeks so I guess I'll get a few free months with that.

Al from Colorado, sorry for the slow response missed this one. No they don't display automatically they are a separate choice in the boom main menu just like the difference between fm & am radio. It works great for me as I can check rain and choose an alternate route or gear up. Never used the WB and was unaware there was a traffic or weather feature on it so can't provide an answer. Will look at it in a month or so when I get back from work

Cheers Tom

6 a month or 36 for six would be great. Can the traffic and weather be added to the basic plans?
I too love the weather and it works so well I have watched clouds form with it refreshing just as fast. Gearing up or bypassing is awesome the first time you miss getting wet it pays for itself.

For my GMC truck, weather is separate from traffic. Did not know that until I noticed red lines were no longer showing on my GPS, since I already paid for weather, I assumed, wrongly, that weather and traffic were bundled. They are not. I pay $4.99/moth for traffic, $6.99/ month weather. I also paid $139/year for premium package as I listen to Howard Stern. I will renew traffic and weather for bike, not premium service. Right now I have all on bike for 3 month trial as they did not activate it in July when I bought bike.

I added renewal dates to my Google calendar to cancel as they will automatically renew without notice at renewal date. I let it lapse for a few moths until they are willing to deal with me.

I pay $36 every 6 months for weather only which comes with traffic but not anything else. I found the music channels a pain in the arse when I did the trial as the numbers/names made no sense & there were way too many to remember any next time I rode. I have tons of music of all types (even elevator music for special occasions) so I don't need the music on the radio. I am very happy with the weather function. If is saves me a wet arse just once every 6 months it pays for itself IMHO.

$30/6 months including tax -  2 radios, used to be 3.  No traffic or weather. Tell them you are cancelling & they will lower the price, that is the best offer I know of.

Do I understand this correct. The traffic and weather are in only a few areas? I turned on the channels that say traffic and weather and they are not in my area.

Unless you live and drive around inside of a cave, it should be available :P. As long as your car can see the sky, you should be able to get the signal through which all information is passed. Unless I am missing something I can't see why you cant get traffic and weather if you get the XM signal for all of the other stuff.
