Hey Chief, I didn't fail to mention elsewhere that "you're out of your friggin' mind", did I? ;) Hoist! 8)

I never saw it in writing, but I'm sure the thought was there.

As an added value to this Chief will have no falling parts from his bike after such exercise! :apple:

Chief,   Were you able to find a 12 point bolt for the rear shocks?

I replaced all the bolts on my 04 with 12 points and could not find the ones for the shocks.

No, ARP only makes 12-point up to 7/16, so I went with a flanged small hex. They aren't 12's, but they look a lot better than the stock ones.

I knew I wasn't alone in this disease.

That looks like fun too. It really doesn't take much to make a bike look like it exploded. There aren't that many parts, pull off a few covers and larger parts like a wheel or so, and it look like the Terminator.

I put the rear wheel and fender back on last night, and now it looks 10 times better.

I used to tear into my Jap bikes like that years ago - no fear or concern, just "git 'er done."  But my brand new $33k jester.  Ummm, that's quite a different subject.

Like, can you walk on a 2" x 6" laying flat on the floor?  No problem.  Put put it 100 feet in the air.  Big problem.

That is the way I'd feel if I was to go that deep into a new bike.  Pucker factor big time for fear of screwing up or scratching somthing expensive.  And everything on these H-Ds is expensive.

Well, that's how the story began, but you know the drill. It's kind of like the plastic surgeon, "While we're here..."

It wouldn't have gotten this bad if the case bolts had shown up on Friday when they were supposed to. Then I would have something to do, like putting it back together.

I guess bad things can happen when I hae free time and a nearby tool box.

Hey Chief,
You ever thought about applying for a CVO assembly job at the MoCo.  By the looks of the state of disassembly of your :cherry:, I'd say you're just as qualified as the folks up in York, if not more (at least we know it's going to get put back together right), to assemble a CVO.  ::)
Cheers :2vrolijk_21:,

And we thought we had OCD! :shocked2:

While I admit to all kinds of  OCD, especially when it comes to mufflers, I've never thought about tearing apart my bike to put a condom on it.   ;D

there have been many times though, that my wife would come in to the shop and see the bike all in pieces and comment that she was amazed taht I could take it all apart and put it back together like that It is kinda fun when a plan goes right.   :)

Well, if I have parts left over when I'm done, that will mean its just a little bit faster since it will weigh less.

The work Chief has done is awesome.  I used to be into cars: but after renting cherry pickers, shop space, removing quarter panels just to replace batteries, and the constant requirement for an extra set of hands I sold the hot rod; bought a motorcycle.

Much more enjoyable to work on  :bananarock:

Hey Red,

I wouldn't last. I like to listen to the bike when I work on it, kind of like Robert Duvall in Days of Thunder.

Working on your own scoot isn't for everyone. Not everyone has the time, space, desire... to do it. I enjoy it, and I enjoy spending service money on other things, like lots of shiny bolts.

I got the same last evening when Pinkie came down and said it looks much more like a motorcycle now that the tank, fender and rear wheel are back on it.

I'll get more pieces on tonight when I get the detachable brackets back from the powder coater. I never did like that greenish colored coating they put on those brackets. Mine will now be nice black powder coat. I hope it looks as nice as I think it will.

Chief

I just got the condom joke. Funny. :2vrolijk_21:
