Tach bracket
« on: February 18, 2007, 04:52:55 PM »

I have an 07 Road King and want to install a tachometer. While at the HD dealer, I saw a tach mount bracket on another RK that the parts guys can't find. Instead of the standard mount bracket, this bracket had a bar & shield and attached to the horizontal face (top) of the chrome cover. After talking with some old timers, they suggested it may have been a Screaming Eagle tach mount bracket for an 04 or earlier model. Can anyone help with a part # or picture.

Started to wonder why you wanted two tachs on the bike before realizing your RK wasn't an SE.  I remember the bracket you're asking about but couldn't immediately find a part number for it.  Will look later to see if I've got the number saved anyplace.  You might also consider swapping the speedometer for one of the instruments that combine that speedo and tach.  Some of those clamp cover mounted units interfere with some of the windshield mountings.  With the in dash unit you never have to worry about it.

The bracket P/N is 69099-03. You'll need cover number 67869-03, tach 69074-02, Chrome "can" 67953-96, can screw 67956-96gasket 67952-96 and screws (2) 3007 , washer 6716, screw 3728 and washer 6811W  All of these part numbers came from the 100th Anniversary Screamin Eagle Road King (FLHRSEI2) Supplemental parts catalogue (P/N 99428-03) , pages 78 and 79  Good luck

Hey Shootpool, welcome aboard. 2Lane had a good idea to replace your speedo with a combo unit. The riser mounted tach restricts use of the windshield/bag. Good luck and welcome to the site. Hoist! 8)

Oh yeah B! But fan from a practical standpoint. Don't particularly care for the form, but don't mind it too bad, for the function. EasyPass for tolls, phone, maps, keys etc. all at my fingertips. Can't travel without it. I ride comfy with my pockets empty. I put that chit in the pouch when I'm riding, and put it back in my pockets when I stop. There's no better place to put that stuff. ;) Hoist! 8)

Oh yeah, I've been out west so long I forgot they CHARGE you to ride/drive on bad highways back east. You draw a line from Illinois to Virginia - - everything northeast of that line  PAY TOLL  98% of everything southwest of that line RIDE FREE. Beyond that, what do you need a phone, keys etc for when you're riding ? And when you're not, doesn't it make more sense to have em in your pockets so they go with you when get off the bike ?  I guess it's a New Yawk thang !  :D

Definitely B, total force of habit. My chit's always with me! I even take my heavy cable lock with me on trips! Triple locks, alarm, surveilance at home. NYC man, you take care of yourself! And I'm in a great neighborhood. You're just always better off being safe instead of sorry. ;) Hoist! 8)
