I have always hated having to carry two fobs, won't fit in the pocket, and one hanging on the belt they tend to hit parts of the bike. Talk to the dealer and had this great idea to buy the 2016 fob. Had it cut to my particular key code, don't ask, parts department  agreed with me that should be easy to reprogram the bike. Well now that I have it I am told it won't work. Can anyone offer any insight?  I have the part numbers  for the antenna module,  the power lock module, and the body control module.  They are in order, 68956–07, 76000345, and 69994–12 B. I am looking for the best guidance this site has to offer. As always thank you in advance.

I have a '15 and looked into doing this when the '16th came out. No could do at that point. I doubt it has changed as the entire system is different.

Since I am extremely stubborn I'm not willing to give in just yet. Here's my question whether it is 15, or 16, don't both use radio signals  for alarm and power locks? Even if the systems are completely different I've  got to figure both have radio receivers, one for the alarm one for the locks. Unless they use different frequencies I just can't see why you couldn't program the new fob like the old fob.my crazy for thinking this?

I had that same thought after loosing a set of key / fob and called HD factory about it. I was transfered to tech support. My understanding the answer is yes you can upgrade to the 2016 BCM have it progamed so you can use the 16 type fob. Don't remember if the harness also needs to be changed.
Call the factory and get the right answer before spending any more money.

Wanted to do this myself but my tech advised it wouldn't work. Stated that HD made the new stuff non compatible with the old.

As Wingman mentioned, the BCM was also changed for 2016, and I believe some of the functions for the power lock system were incorporated in the new BCM.  You need to find a tech specialist at H-D to tell you exactly what parts you will need and what will need to be programmed into the new BCM.  I don't know those answers myself, and I've got the feeling you won't find anyone in the typical Harley dealership who knows either.   I'm surprised Harley didn't realize there would be a demand for this mod and at least put out the info in a bulletin to the dealers.  It would generate some parts sales from people just like you.

Have you been able to get any part of this working?  Power locks or security system?  I haven't physically seen the new key.  Maybe the guts of the old can be transplanted into the new header?
