i understand how the market works against '16's when the '17's are introduced and I remember when the TC motor came out the EVO's got hammered but I think this time it's a little different...my thoughts stem from the restrictions that HD has been forced to place on the owner as far as mods and voiding the warranty. Visually the bikes are nearly identical. Technologically they are nearly identical (as far as the infotainment). It would be a tough choice, at least for me, if I were standing in a dealership with a pile of cash looking at the '16 blue & silver CVO Limited vs. the '17 blue & silver CVO Limited knowing that I could change just about anything I want on one but severely limited as to what I could do to the other.
SIK, no more beer for you....

ANY modifications to a vehicles exhaust, intake, programming, etc. that takes that vehicle (with two, three, four or more wheels) out of EPA compliance is illegal. That didn't magically change from 2016 to 2017. Harley getting their hand slapped with a federal lawsuit and big fine can do wonders to your perspective...hence the "crackdown" for 2017 in an attempt to make a good show to the feds by "clamping down" on these illegal modifications by owners and using the warranty as one means to accomplish that. Making our scooters run better/cooler/produce more power was as illegal 2016 prior as it still is today. I do find it interesting that the timing of all this (lawsuit/fine/elimination of the old SE tuner) happened to coincided with the introduction of a new motor AND a new SE tuner...

My '15 has had no modifications mechanically to enhance the operational efficiency. Why? Well, this was only the second year for the twin cooling, first year for the redesign on the Road Glide and still having issues with the 110 so maintaining everything legal in keeping my warranty intact was important to me. The factory as well as ESP/extended warranty clearly stated then as it does now they can void either for illegal mods. Why do you think all of the GOOD aftermarket tuners (TTS, FP3) allow for "taking settings back to factory" if you have a warranty claim?
My warranty runs out the end of July this year. Post warranty, I am contemplating some mechanical upgrades for more power, smoother and cooler operation and better efficiency....
.....all still illegal, by the way....Haird the outlaw....
