CD Player Skips
« on: October 19, 2004, 08:33:46 AM »

I have read that some of you have had a problem with you CD players skipping, mine does it at the end of the CDs like the last two or three tracks. It is as if the speakers are not working for a fwe seconds because it seem that the song keeps going. If you have had this problem and had the dealer work on it did the replace the radio and did it take care of your problem? DelNel [smiley=beerchug.gif]

You may call the people at radio sound phone # is in the owners manual and see what they have to say,  not sure if a dealer will even look at it.  They usually just send it to radio sound.

The problem that I have with mine is that it started with skipping,  to just flat out not reading the cd's at all.  I watch it cycle thru all of them without playing them.  Guess it's my imagination the they are there but they aren't  [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif].  I'm waiting til the off season to deal with it.  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

I sometimes have trouble with mine starting a disc that was previously inserted, for example when switching from radio to CD, or after starting the bike back up if it was turned off with a CD playing.  Doesn't matter if it's a commercial or homemade CD.  The problem's been intermittent for me, too, but frequent enough to be annoying.  Rather than hassle with trying to get if fixed, I think I would rather switch to an MP3 player.  That way I'd have a tour-pak full of CD's on the handlebar without switching discs at every stop while touring.

103,  that's my thoughts as well.  I just hate being out the $450 that I paid thru ebay to get it.  So at this point,  I'm weighing out all the possible options.

magoo the local HD dealer told me that the mp3 player wasn't designed to work with our radios. Did someone tell you different?

That was my understanding, too, when they first came out but others said they will work.  Talked with Johnny from here down in Maggie Valley who had purchased one, but not installed it yet.  Johnny, if you're reading this, did you get yours installed and did it work with our radios?

I have an RCA Lyra mp3 player here, works just fine.  If you check things out, you can save songs in a number of mp3 file formats and such.  The RCA was one that would accept mp3 pro format, it saves the files smaller without sacrificing sound quality.  MP3 Pro @ 64kps are about half the size of regular mp3 files saved at 128kb and they sound the same, near cd quality!  This is helpful if you have limited memory storage available.  I purchased a patch cable at radio shack to connect the mp3 player to the aux input on the front of the radio, uses the aux selection.  Still wish HD would just utilize a cd player that would play MP3 files from the get go, better off one that does not skip!
Good Luck
