Extended Warranty !
« on: June 21, 2017, 09:36:10 PM »

What is a good company to go with for extended warranty ?? with these 110's going like they are I'm starting to think now, my 2014 CVO Ultra has 13K running great now but ?? I have to laugh talk to a dealership and they say OH! there's no issues with the 110, but they really hesitate to take your trade.

Don.......

Don, were I shopping, especially because of the geography, I'd check with Jim.  He's got to be on the receiving end of how good or bad different outfits are so can likely speak from more than anyone's singular experience.

Jim sells Cornerstone,  very good company.  My understanding is more HD dealers are selling them.  I know of at least  2 dealers in MKE that sell them.  I got mine from jim years ago.

Check out Cornerstone at Boardtracker H-D. A link was posted in a previous reply. Jim posts the prices so no confusion and nothing to negotiate unlike Harley dealers who don't want competition and keep their prices as secret as possible.

I recently investigated adding time to my ESP, which expires in February 2018, with my local dealer. Don't have the yearly cost breakdown in my office, but recall that five years was $2,700 and change. You cannot re-new until within 90 days of expiration if you're covered now. Cost is also impacted by mileage and previous claims, making it somewhat bike/rider specific - over 24,999 miles brings a price increase for example. Also dealers increase rates in September pretty much every year from what was indicated. I'm in the same dilemma - renew or not. One path is to use the cash to mod the engine for known 110 reliability issues. The other is to ride it stock with an ESP in the event of a failure.

The dealer did the final 2 year inspection on my Street Glide, turns out it has a leaking head gasket and some other issues. I will be buying the HD extended warranty.  I believe the other warranty people are discussing is a 3rd party company, I did a search on the company and it came back with some bad reviews. I guess they warranty all types of motorized vehicles, so the complaints arent just for Harley related items.

I would recommend everyone do a final inspection on their CVO's, my bike only has 10k miles on it and I have had tons of issues with it since purchase.  This is my 4th Harley and I tell everyone they are problem free if you keep them stock, Im beginning to doubt that now.   Anyoen ever had issues with the factory extended warranty?

The "Harley" extended warranty (service contract) is also a third party agreement. Harley may be a sales agent for the product (and takes a commission on the product) but Harley is not provider of the contract nor are they deciding what work is approved and/or paying the bill for that work.  All a "third party" called Continental Casualty.  it comes wrapped in a pretty HD package with a nice HD bow on top; but that's just the wrapping.

Yep! You are 100% right, I just read the fine print, my mistake! I asked several dealerships today "specifically" is this a Harley warranty or a 3rd party warranty, they ALL stated Harley.  >:(
So, what is the best route for this?   Is the tire coverage really needed?

The 5 year extended coverage( 7 total)  is about $800 different from what the dealer is offering and this place online,

Pretty pissed about  being lied to by every dealer.
