Is anyone familiar with the Craftsman Powder Coat System, #172888? "Apply a durable, protective coating to any metal component quickly and easily. No compressor needed. Just place coated item in a 400 deg oven to cure and your done." List $189.99, Craftsman Club Member $149.99. Will this thing really work? ;) Hoist! 8)

Howie, since the process to do this can't vary much I'd have to assume it is much like the Eastwood package I played with three or four years ago.  And it was... well.... ok.

I've got a bead blast cabinet so could make sure parts were good and clean before starting.  That's a big step.  The biggest hassle, however, was the heating.  Unless you also spend big bucks for a heat tank you're limited to what can be set inside of a household oven in such a way that you're still not touching any of the powdered surface.

Oh, and there are a class or category of people that seem to take exception to car parts curing or baking in the oven....  :nixweiss:

Funny you guys are talking about this because I'm in the process of blasting off some brackets to take to a local powder coater. He just puts my stuff in the line if they are running black that night.

Cleaning is everything I found out, the hard way.
