Radium Hot Springs, BC is the home of Home of A Thousand Faces!

The hectic mountain structure is the home and workspace of Rolf Heer (AKA The Radium Woodcarver), a crazy-quilt of a man who specializes in carving sculptures with a chainsaw.

Scrapped wooden panels and mismatched doors make up most of the outer walls of the abode, with each piece of the wall covered in a cryptic message such as “Emergency Entrance, Ladies Only” and ” No Two or 4 Leg Dogs.”

Inside the walls the grounds are covered in Heer’s sculptures which are almost entirely carvings of a bearded man’s face in logs and smaller pieces of wood.

A fun place to visit…A was forced to cut my visit short as it appeared that bad weather was moving in…strong winds, rain and uncertainty.

Just 25 miles from Lake Louise, there is a treasure trove of glittering aqua magic at the rushing waters of Natural Bridgeand in the serene, glassy depths of Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park.

The Rocky Mountaineer makes its way through town.  If you love trains then The Rocky Mountaineer is a fantastic way to relax and see wonderful scenery while you get wined and dined.

Day 10 | Canmore, Alberta – Banff National Park, Jasper National Park – Canmore, Alberta

Upon starting my day, I was informed that the ride I conducted the day before, Highway 93 and Highway 95, is now closed due to fires.  It appears that a lighting strike may have started this action.  This was one of the same roads that was closed last year.  It saddens me to hear of this position however I am so pleased that He directed me to take this path on that day.

Today will be traveling to the Icefields to explore the more in greater depth.  It has been a number of years since I was year and I am really looking forward to the opportunity.

Rocky Mountain peaks, turquoise glacial lakes, abundant wildlife and scenic drives come together in Banff National Park.

Banff National Park is home to imposing peaks, alpine meadows rich with colourful wildflowers, brilliant blue glacier-fed lakes and the town of Banff and village of Lake Louise.

I have arrived at the Icefields once again and have planned to take it in!

What better way of conducting this goal than on an Ice Explorer!  The Ice Explorer will enable you to walk on the largest ice field in the Rocky Mountains and experience the enormous glaciers up close.

An Ice Exporer is a specialized passenger transport vehicle, designed to operate over snow or ice, similar to a large, multi-passenger snowcat that is equipped with bus style seating. These vehicles may have multiple sets of very large low pressure tires or they may have tracks.  There are less than 25 in existence and this place has over 95% of them.
