My friends' arthritis warrants an easier clutch pull
« on: February 25, 2007, 09:04:37 AM »

Hello All,

My friend has a 98 Police Bike FLH.  It is getting more difficult for him to pull the clutch. Does anyone know of a conversion, or an assist to make those shifts easier for him??  Any info or direction would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Rhino

I did both the Easy Boy and the VPC on my wifes old Road King.  Clutch pulled like a 125 motocrosser ( Do they even make those anymore?).

I have very mild arthritis in my left hand.  I used to use INOX as a cable lube on the 02 Ultra and the 03 Softail.  Really made a difference for me, and lasted alot longer than anything else I tried.................and alot less expensive than clutch mods/upgrades.  Most HD dealers carry the stuff.

You can get the reduced effort ramps only from HD or the whole kit . If you are running a pumped motor just the ramps is the way to go

The new ball and ramp assemblies in the newer bikes are 18*
The previous ones were 21*
The MRC version is a 15*
There is one more that the sporty runs and it escapes right now what degree it is.

This few degrees in ramp change makes a big difference. I run a 18* on all of my bikes and with the jockey shift bike it allows me to pull the clutch in with one finger. On that note I run a EFM Auto Clutch on my Chopper. I installed it this winter so I haven't tested it out on the street yet.
