Have been wanting to get back to one bike since I bought a convertible last fall. Original idea was to sell one bike to pay for the convertible.

Anyway I had a wild hair over the weekend and visited a dealer that has a 2018 Anniversary CVO limited. They offered me the 18 CVO to me for my 16 CVO limited (15,000 miles), 13 CVO Ultra (45,000 miles) and $500 out the door. I thought it was a pretty fair deal and doing this did get me back to just one bike but it didn't put the money I spend on the convertible back into the bank.

I passed on the deal since the bike, although a pretty thing, just didn't "pop" for me plus I really want to put the money back into the bank that I spend on the convertible.

By my calculation, deal offered was a little over MSRP for the 18.  Not a terrible deal, close enough to negotiate out the difference probably.  But was not what you were wanting so was best to pass.

No, that’s a bad deal. Even my thieving, low balling POS dealer would have given you $32K for the ‘16 and $25K for the ‘13. I know this because others here at my dealer have done similar trades recently.

I think your numbers are high. I sold my 2015 CVO FLTRUSE w/15k a year ago for $29.5k

With regard to your choice, that sounds like the way to go if you want some $$$ in the bank or a car that's paid off.

So it's gonna be different at each dealer and in each State but i just went through that here in California. Traded my 16 CVO Limited with 8K miles (Blue and Silver) excellent condition for a 18 CVO Limited Burgundy Cherry fade. After several months of negotiating back and forth they gave me 26K for my 16 and I paid 50K out the door with all extended warranties and tax and license for the 2018.  Currently my old bike is sitting on their floor with a 31,495 price tag . I suspect the first 30k that walks through the door will take it home. Perhaps less as they have several late model CVO's around the 30K number. With new CVO's approaching 50K I think they are happy to have lightly used late model CVO bikes they can sell to the folks who just are not going to spend 50 large for a bike.
 And a buddy of mine had the same 16 CVO as i had with more miles and not as clean . He got 27500 at another dealer 80 miles away but he paid 52K out the door with no extended warranties for his 18 CVO Limited.

That was a fair offer. Prices are dropping every month. The market is flooded with little to no movement right now. Plus the dealer is going to have to come in below so that resale won’t be a total loss. Dealers in my area are only selling new CVO’s. They can’t give away the 18’ except for CVO’s. That anniversary cvo limited is a very rare bike that would be hard to let escape. However there is always tomorrow to go scoop that baby up.

If I could find someone to give me $25K for my 13 today I would jump all over that! Hell I might even deliver it for that money!

LMH, I have been thinking on trading my `15 CVO for an `18 R.G. CVO a big difference the 110" compared to the 117"? Have not had the opportunity to ride one yet just curious.

The dealer cost, not including any holdback or dealer incentive payments, has been 80% of MSRP in the past, I'm not sure about 2018.  So a $40k bike has a gross profit of $8k at MSRP before any incentives from H-D or additional profits from ESP, accessories, financing, etc.  They have plenty of working room, especially if they also took in a trade and ultimately sell it for another $4k or better profit.  I know a lot of Ford dealers who would kill for that kind of profit on a car (they do better on trucks, but small to midsize cars and CUV's carry very low markups).

Just traded my  2016 CVO Limited with 5500 mis. on my 2018 CVO Limited anniversary,    Dealer gave me 30K,  They have it for sale for 33,500.   I think I did pretty well. Selling price on the '18 was 43,000.  and I got lifetime scheduled maintenance for free.

since the brake fluid flush is in the maintenance schedule at every 2 years, is that included in your 'lifetime scheduled maintenance' plan?
