v and h fuel pak
« on: February 28, 2007, 03:26:29 PM »

I've been browsing the topics and this is a great site. Some very knowledgable folks. it has definitely got me begging for more$$$$.
I could not find any good info on the vance and hines fuel pak, I'm running it with stock header pipes with v/h slip ons, stock a/c. Is any one using one, any pro's or cons would be greatly appreciated. Also will this help with the heat/lean mixture problem, or Should I be looking for a SERT or power commander.

I was running a PCIII with a Kuray type r a/c, python 3 exhaust, and Carl's Speed 512 cams and it dyno at 88.5 HP and 96.4 trq. I loved it and was a little disappointed with the stock #'s on the 110 UC.

I've seen the dyno sheets on the posts and have high hopes for the 110, but see its gonna take some work.

thanks.

The numbers you mention - is that on your CUSE2 or was that your previous bike?

ULTRAFXR
that was on the TC 88, FXSTDI, not the 07 UC.
I have the dyno sheet done from Carls Speed shop, but have not figured out how to scan and post yet.

I WOULD MAKE A AC CHANGE FIRST AND MAKE SURE V & H EVEN HAS A FUEL PAK WITH SETTINGS FOR THE 110. I HAVE ONE ON OUR SEVROD AND IM NOT SATISFIED WITH IT. ITS A QUICK & EASY MODIFY, HAS TO TO BETTER THAN THAN STOCK.
WELCOME TO SITE, AND RELAX SOMEONE WILL COME UP WITH CURE ;D

TAO,
If you're not planning on using O2 sensors, the PC III will work for you.  Currently, they don't offer a model that incorporates the sensors.  You have to install sensor eliminators to fool the ECM into thinking the sensors are present.  I've heard rumors that there will be a new PCIII coming out sometime that will use the sensors, but have no idea when/if that will happen.  I've had my ECM SERT'd and my bike runs great....no heat issues and good performance, considering all I've done is change out the pipes and AC.
Cheers :2vrolijk_21:,

Was it that way, sluggish & choking down, when it was bone stock?  I've made no mods to mine and it runs perfect.  Never any hesitation even when dead cold.  Had a baseline dyno on it last week and got 80 hp and 96 ft lbs tq.  I didn't think that was at all bad for a totally stock 110.

It was good on the way home from Mobile to FWB, but it was also cool that day and mostly hwy riding. I had the slip ons and fuel pak put on before i picked her up. Not sure what it did prior. were heading out next month on the yrly mountian run to north GA and back down to Daytona so well see how she does on the trip. if its still sluggish I'll see if Doug down at Carls speed shop can dyno it and tune. Who know what will happen after we see what it pulls on the dyno. Thanks for the imput, i'm pretty sure it that fuel pak.

Welcome aboard Tao! I've never worked with the V&H FP, but my mechanic tells me it's not the greatest unit to tune with and offers little tuning flexibility. Re the PC, don't worry about the O2 sensor thing. The HD Narrow Band sensors that come on the stock bikes, offer little benefit to the operation of the engine. The PC comes with the O2 Eliminators which simply plug into the sensor harness. Who the hell needs them anyway. If you change ECM's to a system that has true Wide Band Sensors with continuous O2 monitoring, that's a different story. That's not how the PC works, so it's not important. What is important, is to get the engine setup properly as early as possible. So if you're inclined to go for the PC, I wouldn't hesitate to do it now. As long as you have mechanic that you trust and knows how to tune, do what he recommends and let him Dyno-tune it. Best of luck with your ride and enjoy the site! ;) Hoist! 8)

I had a FuelPak on my '04 RKC.  Wasn't really satisfied with it.  But they were really new then.  If I am not mistaking, all the settings with the FuelPak assume you have a high performance air cleaner installed.  If you still have the stock unit the bike may be running rich.  Have you checked your plugs?  Or try installing either the SE Air Cleaner or the Ness Big Sucker.  That might solve your problems.  Good luck.

I am using the fuelpak and with the setup I have now I really like it. I have V&H true duals, classic slash cut with end cap slipons and SE hi flow intake with the K&N filter. The scoot runs great and gets good gas mileage.

All this is about to change though. I have the direct dr. 575 cams, feuling oil pump, lifters, cam support plate, pushrods, and bearings that are about to get installed just as soon as I get the pump and plate.
