« on: February 28, 2007, 06:37:36 PM »

I know that this may be a dumb question but, I was told that I had 50 posts before ya'll tried to run me off...

I have v/h slip ons with the stock header pipe, if i change to the dual pipes from v/h can i just mount my slip ons with the same results as say putting complete pipes or like longs shots.

eastern performance is showing a set

thanks for info..

Yes you can use your slip ons w/the V&H true duals. You should have the same results as others that are running true duals.

I got picked my new 2013 FLHRSE5 RK. I plan on installing V&H True duals w/ the Monster Round slip ons. Would I need to have the dealer install a tuner?

When you add a free flowing air cleaner and/or a free(er) flowing exhaust system,  you need to alter the air/fuel mix to maximize the tune.  Either the Harley tuner or one of the many after-market tuners can do that for you.  Get your wallet out and enjoy......... ::)

Not normally, but in this day and age WHO REALLY KNOWS!!!! We we start talking about warranty it opens up a whole new can of worms!!!!

Go ahead and change the pipes and do the race tuner. You will be very happy with the change in performance and the cooler motor!!!!

Be Safe

Would any one have any ideas how much louder my new FLHRSE5 would be if I installed a set of V&H monster rounds and dresser duals or power duals.

My dealership a few yrs ago......'09.  Installed the wrong set of V&H duals on my new SE Ultra 110.   I wanted the (Power Duals),  and they by mistake put on the (True Duals)........and I was using Rinehart mufflers.

While the True Duals look fantastic,  they are LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUD,  my wife complained about them and I thought they were too loud also.  The dealership ordered in the Power Duals that I had requested all along,  and when they came in,  the switch was made.   (Meantime,  the bike had been tuned and dynoed).

The new Power Duals were much quieter but still "barked" way beyond a stock setup.   By the way,  another dyno run showed that the Power Duals out perform the True Duals substantially.   Hope this info helps you. :drink:

Are you saying that the V&H power duals are not as loud as the true duals (Dresser Duals), but you get more power from the power duals. I like the looks of the true duals, but I don't want to  be to loud. I have already  ordered a set of the monster rounds.

Yes,  the True Duals while very cool looking I think.......are much LOUDER by far than the Power Duals.............and a dyno run comparison will show ya that the Power Duals......which are "stepped" and go from two into one and then back into two..........puts out more power. :2vrolijk_21:

If I just install the V&H 4" Monster Round slip on's now before I install the V&H header on my new 2013 FLHRSE5 (110 cc), would I have to have to install a tuner? with just slip ons.

Technically, the ECM can compensate for small changes like slip on mufflers.  Removing the CAT by installing different headers is a whole different ballgame.  Having said that, even a stock bike can benefit from a good tuner/tune by a COMPETENT tuner, and that does not mean the typical HD dealership.  Just having a Dyno does not mean they have anyone qualified to use it.

Midnight has it right.........If you have ever seen a picture of a cut header with the CAT exposed,  you would realize how restrictive that damn thing is and when it has been removed....via new header pipes,  the increased flow would be significant and call for a tuner much more than just a muffler swap out.  If you have ponied up the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to buy yourself a new 2013 SE of any type,  you can afford to and need to..........pony up some more $$$$ for the tuner/header pipes/mufflers/freer flowing intake air cleaner and more........plus getting a competent tuner with a dyno to get it all "dialed in". :drink:
