Warning Lights in 07 Spun gauges hard to see
« on: February 28, 2007, 09:48:51 PM »

Yeah, I looked at the old thread but a warning came up in red and said to start a new topic...so here it is.

In my 07 SEUC the warning lights in the speedo and the cruise light is hard to see in the daytime (heck I can't see em'.)  I don't think it is a bulb issue I think there is some kind of screen over the light.

Does anyone else notice this?  These lights are pretty much useless in the daytime.

The only way I know I'm in 6th gear is the obnoxious whine of 5th gear quits.

Wait until you go looking for the friggin' low fuel light.  They are all just weak as hell with that stupid color.  Only solution ride at night :huepfenlol2:

Hey Sixgun  that 5th gear noise is over 90% gone in mine after the heavy grade of shockproof  tranny fluid from Redline.   I found the green 6th gear and green cruise actually drawing my attention too much in the day and more so at night.  not so for the orange of low fuel and cruise on mode.  the   HK screen just grates on me but maybe we need to ride past beaches and bikini  contests  then the colors wont be so bad? :nixweiss:

It seems like you could replace the material with something clear like my stock 06 I had.  Can you get that area in the speedo?

You are right. When you notice the low fuel light is on you ask yourself the question HOW LONG HAS THAT  !@#$  THING BEEN ON..... I just reset the A trip every time I fill up with gas. In 150 miles I start looking for GAS!

There you go, Bubba...once you get in the habit of resetting the odo, it gets automatic.  The only time I have a hard time seeing the lights when the sun is over my shoulder.

Notice it's on?  How the hell do you ever notice it's on when some hare brain hid it behind the speedo needle's tail?

I think they are noticing it when they pull in the gas station to get gas after realizing that they have gone 150+ miles on the trip meter. :nixweiss:

Same guy did that who's been trying to get the oil temp gauge right... ;) ;D  I think it's the same dude BLM says is playing the banjo near his new homestead...

Yeah, I hated that on my '06.  On the '07 they have moved it so it is not covered by the tail of the speedo needle.  Much, much better but still not nearly as good as my old '99.  It was so obvious on that bike that when it came on mama would start needling me to stop for gas.  I threatned to cover that area of the guage with black tape so she wouldn't notice the low fuel warning light, lol.

I really prefer the low-fuel system on my '99. It quit running. I flipped the little lever and all was good.

The old ways are sometimes so much better. I still don't understand why you can't run a reserve on the FI bikes, especially with the pump in the tank.

I'm with you chief.  Any ideas on how to do that?  Have to be in chrome, of course. :huepfenlol2:

It looks to me that  the ole gravity supply method allowed for the reserve feature with a petcock tha had 2 different hight's  cant be incorporaed into the electric pump system  having one pick up source.   I would think  the HK guys would sleep over the Delphi  guys fish camp sometimes and come up with a "Fuel is Low" verbal warning thru the upcoming plazma screen/heads up display sysem?? :nixweiss:
