Carolina "ButtBuffer" ever use one?
« on: February 28, 2007, 09:56:13 PM »

Are these things helpful on a long ride?  Worth the money?

Well chit.  Saw the thread title and just assumed there'd have to be a picture that would make it worth the effort to click in and look.  Wasted days and wasted nights......

Looks interesting................however the last thing I need to be even a smidgen taller in the saddle.  I'm in the market for a new seat anyway.

There have been new custom seats made for these bikes, but my buddy saw these at a show and I thought this might be a bandaid for a problem.

You can take/send your seat to one of the shops that are dealers for them, and they can take your seat apart take some of the foam out, and replace w/the polymers (see here). Your seat will be the original height it is now, but have (supposedly) a more comfortable ride.

Pro Pad has a line of seat pads and inserts as well. They have been around for awhile too.
They have just come out with whole replacement seats. You may want to check out their site?

Thanks, I studied the threads about the Corbin rebuilds and such, but I can stand my seat for short days but any long haul I wanted to have something to throw on there.  The Propad looks just as good.

Have you used the pro pad?

Hi SixGun,
I have not owned a Pro Pad but have talked to owners of the inserts and they loved the improvement in the stock seat.
I don't know how the gel would work with the heating elements in the 2006 Ultra seat?  :nixweiss:
I have heard of some people who say when you first use a seat with a gel insert regardless of brand you feel like you got a load in your shorts. Then you get used to it and like it. :huepfenlol2:

For what it's worth, I had a gel insert put in the seat on my '03 Ultra which helped considerably on the long rides, but the thing that made the most difference was that gosh-awful fuggly sheepskin seat cover set the MoCo sells.  That's right I've got the fuzzy stuff on my ride, but I'll tell you what - I'll never be without them.  Warm in the winter (don't know how they'll work with the heated seats  :nixweiss:), and cool in the summer.  No hot spots even on 10+ hour days in the saddle.  Yeah if it rains they get wet.  Hey, when was the last time you saw a sheep holding an umbrella in a rainstorm :huepfenlol2:?
So I hope I don't embarass any of you guys when I ride up on the CUSE with my fuzzy seat ;).

I'll always find a space far, far away from the rest of you guys and cover the bike with a Gold Wing cover ;).
