This just got here today. It's dirty but it's all there. Knew it wasn't running right from the prior owner. Only a few hundred miles in its last six to seven years. It's got some carb issues.
Will only idle at about half choke. Dies under hard acceleration and coming off power. Ran well enough for me to get it home though. Only had about a mile ride from where I met the semi that carried it here from Pennsylvania. It died four or five times getting here but started up again while rolling each time so no drama and didn't have to push it.
Worst part was getting it started after the semi unloaded. Battery was dead but even with a jumper on it the little bitch just did not want to start in the 45 degree weather this afternoon. Flooded it (of course) but finally got it running in the parking lot of the closed-for-business grocery story where I met the truck. After that its first ride limped it here.
Tomorrow will look at the carb but may just do one of the Mikuni "easy kits." Aside from the basic dirty it picked up in route it's actually a really clean old bike. Nice condition and just a nice old bike. Tires are two years old and almost no miles. Fresh fluids last fall (I'm told) but will change again. Flush brakes. Get it running right and that'll be about it. Don't plan on changing or adding much aside for some LED bulbs for better visibility and doing something with the forward controls.
At sometime in its life the stock mid controls were removed and replaced with the forwards on it now. I don't fit forward controls well. Still torn between finding bits and pieces to put the mids back on it or just going with floorboards. Leaning toward boards....
Anyway, here's the new toy.
