Size really does matter!
« on: March 02, 2007, 06:47:49 AM »

Well, finally I'd had enough. I went to the pros and told them I really needed one more inch. Didn't have to look perfect, just make sure there is at least one more inch........................

            ;D                                   ;D                                     ;D

of padding on my POS backrest.  I had tried everything else. Bending, shimming, etc. So I finally took it to an upohlstery shop and had them not only add padding, but add more on the bottom than on the top as the backrest always seemed to hit me in the small of the back and after a long day, the top of the rest seemed like a rock. comfort wise it turned out great. He was able to resue all the material on the front, and just re-did the back. Pictures probably won't show much change, but here are a couple.

Great idea, I think the stock backrest is horrible.  Of all places to skimp on design, Give us some comfort for the long hauls!!!  I have a trip to Key West coming up in a couple weeks and will be using my old Road King Classic unless I can do what you did in the above photos.
Thanks for the insight.

I took mine off because I didn't like the feel. I think I'll try what you did. It looks like a nice pillow. Good job. Let us know how it feels after a long haul.

Back Rest looks good.  The back of the pad looks much better that the stock piece withe the cheap staples showing.  Some of the staples are already pulling out on my scoot.

I kept the backrest off of my 06 Ultra. It is much larger, and softer than the CVO POS they give us with the bikes. My CVO backrest looks like it was covered by a kid!

Never had a problem with backrest but just did send seat to get some mods done to it.2" Lower and 1 1/2 back for driver and some new kind of gel. Figured can not be worse than stock :o

With the backrest modification and gel seat pad, everyone could get an "irona$$" patch.

Anything that benefit's the masses is a great thing! :huepfenjump3:

my upolster was worried about the heated seats and gel packs. So I call the get pack company and asked them. They do not recommend the gel packs with the heated seats...... :confused5:

I hear ya about can't be worse than stock............... :nixweiss:

I'll take mine in before our Laughlin bike run 250 mile trip.
