110" to 113" Conversion
« on: March 04, 2007, 11:22:35 PM »

When I take the bike down in the winter to do cams, I was thinking of some head work too. Anyone familiar with the SE heads from a 110"? Are they any good or do they need extensive work? While I have the heads off, I was wondering if the 113" barrels were a bolt on to the 110" cases, like the 88" to 95" conversion. was thinking about maybe upping compression a little too. Anyone know enough about the 110" internals to comment? Thanks. Hoist! 8)

HD has released a 110 Stage II Pro kit.
It runs 10.5:1 pistons and a SE 260 cam. They also recommend the SE 50mm throttle body.
The heads in the kit are the stock CVO units so they must be somewhat confident of the flow rates and valve sizes.
I like the sounds of this kit EXCEPT the choice of cams. I feel the SE 260 is too much of an RPM cam for a touring bike.
I have the pistons in stock and a local guy is willing to "clean up" my heads but I am still unsure on the camshaft.....

As for going to the 113", I have not checked into this yet.

PS, I rode my 110" today for the first time with the Reinharts and hi flow breather. With the SE #84 map it ran REAL NICE!!!!
As soon as we have time, I will have the map massaged.

Hey gang, see what happens when you say FTW! And after all, the stock cams don't belong there. You know gear drive cams are a must. If I'm not gonna rely on their W.....ty, then I gotta make it bulletproof! Does Feuling have a camplate for the 110" yet? How's these oil pumps holding up? S&S should have some cool chit for it by then. So should a bunch of other outfits. And I thought I remember hearing that there were bolt-on 113" barrels. That's my idea of OCD!

Fortunately Dr. D00d is always around with RX to relieve the symptoms.   :pimp:
The prescription has been written and he's taking it accordingly. Took a little while for the meds to work, and at one time I thought I was going to have to up the dosage. However he finally saw the light and realized that it was his motorcycle and he could do what he wanted/needed to do to make it run the way he wanted. ;) 8)

Unless you just want to get the Feuling Camplate for some reason then go for it, but it's not required. I kept my stock camplate and others that have done the Zippers/Freedom cams have kept them.

You notice how he's very carefully not sticking his nose in here while we're picking on him?  What's up with that?  Not nearly as much fun when the victim isn't being willingly victimized publicly.

Thanks Brad. I'd go with gear-drives anyway. I was hoping to get away with just massaging the heads a little. 10-10.5:1's. I'm not sure I'd use their throttle body. If the bottom end of these things holds together, and you get the right top end and cams on, these motors could be pretty hot!

Big difference riding now over the stock set-up. That engine definitely wanted to breath! I don't get any heat either. At least in the cool weather. Enjoy your bike and let me know what you decide on the hop-up. Hoist! 8)
