THE 29440-99C WHICH IS NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE AND ON "BACK ORDER" IS NOT THE BETTER  BREATHER .  IT  IS A  PAPER ELEMENT WHICH IS NOT VERY DURABLE.
THE 29773-02A  IS THE WAY TO GO   AND IS  AVAILABLE NOW AS A STAGE-ONE KIT.   29773-02A  .

NO SAID THAT ABOUT YOU.    THERE IS A LOT OF UNCERTAINTY ABOUT THIS INTAKE EVEN AT HARLEY CUSTOMER SERVICE , APPARENTLY THE NEWEST ONE OUT THE 29440-99C IS NOT AS DURABLE AS THE STAGE ONE KIT 29773-02A.  I IMAGINE THIS IS WHY YOU CAN NOT GET IT.

I concur that 29773-02A is the proper stage one air cleaner kit for our bike. I watched with some amusement at the differing opinions on the other thread. It is a bit confusing as the above # is not listed in the SE catolog, but my parts guy is pretty sharp so I trusted that he gave me the correct kit. Just in case, I called the motor company to confirm. The CS rep laughed and said between him, me, and the fence post it is really the same kit as the 29440-9C, however, he went on to say that the 29773-02A keeps it's EPA rating with the addition of the correct download. Everything bolted up just fine for me and the breathers route into the backing plate like they should.
