Visor Trim Rings - Need Help
« on: March 05, 2007, 08:50:35 AM »

I can't find the bullet lens visor turn signal trim rings on the HD site. I have the #'s for the Headlamp and Passing Lamps, but can't find the visor trim rings for the turn signals. I need the std. orange for front, and need the red for the rear.

Does anyone have those handy?

Thanks,

Chief

<EDIT>

When I changed out the std. headlamp on my '99 to go with the '05 cloisonne model, my existing trim ring then had a gap of about 1/4" between it and the headlamp lens. I put the same trim ring on the '07, and it too has a gap, but the P&A catalog says "Fits '83-later Touring models (except Tour Glide and Road Glide®). Fits '94-later FLHR models and '86-later FL Softail® models with Chrome Headlight Nacelle P/N 67907-96B. (Does not fit with Fairing Bra P/N 57800-00.)". Is the gap there on the new ones?

</EDIT>

Go into the Motor accessories area and do a search on "Bullet Turn Signal Visor".  That should pull up what you need.  What you will need you can locate under "Touring".  Unlike the headlight and passing lights, when buying the Visor trim rings for the turn signals you get both the trim rings and new lens.  Hope this helps.

That was the ticket. Thank you.

Here are the part #'s if anyone else is interested.

69733-05 - Headlamp
69732-05 - Passing lamps
69757-05 - Red Turn Signal
69756-05 - Amber Turn Signal

Is it any tougher than the plain, read non-visor, trim ring that kind of clamshells around the stock headlight trim and attaches with one bolt at the bottom?

I don't know about the visor style, but I put some on a couple of years ago.  I discovered that the trim rings were much easier to install as a two person job than trying to do it solo.  One person holding the ring in place and another dealing with the bolt was a much easier process.

It's the same.  Only difference in the rings is the visor lip.

How does dropping your nuts hurt your eyes?

Ok, maybe I don't want to know the answer to that......

Nut, not nuts. The tiny little nut that holds the whole thing together, ya silly nut.  It was while looking for my the nut that I almost put my eye out with a screwdriver. But in the end, the visor trim rings look good. Got 'em on the pumpkin and wife's RK. Stock headlight just looks... like..something fell off.

That's true.  It is a definite improvement in the looks department.  Hey, when you tightened up your... the nut how close to flush at the bottom did the two sides of the trim ring pull to each other?

TL,
For what it's worth, I've got the "regular" (non-visor) headlight ring on my '03 Ultra.  Agree with everyone - real PIA to do alone.  I've got about a 1/4" gap at the bottom where the piece meets.  Tried washers on either side of the bolt and "nut", no joy.  Could not get the pretty chrome piece to "kiss" where it should.  Think I recall in another thread folks saying the same thing.  Sorta' looks like my screw's loose... :huepfenlol2:

(Had to run out and check) About a fingernail thickness is what I could feel...(can't get to the front real easy the way the vehicles are stuffed in the garage). As I rekymember, the headlights came almost together, the spotlites came right together. I kept thumping the rings all around with my palm as I tightened them, and that helps. I'm experienced, though... ;D I've changed, let's see... 5 sets now, between the bikes. Like, wife's bike had the 'non-visored' ones (that I put on) and when she saw the pumpkin's visored set. .. yeah, well, I've got several non-visored rings in the garage now.  ::)

You let her see the better looking oens?  Oh man......   You poor bastard!

On mine the spots fit fine.  With the single bulb headlight that ring snugged up very well too.  With the dual bulb housing I've never been able to get it closer than about 1/4" though.  I'll beat it on again before spring starts and maintenance stops.  But it's just never been perfect.

Yep. Sometimes it just takes a little beating to make it right. :huepfenjump3:
