8 above zero is the coldest I've ridden coming into work a few years ago, no electric gear either. I would give -8 a try but would probably invest, like they did, in my first electric clothing...

Just watched the Netflix series "the ride, London to Beijing"...now that sounds like an adventure including extreme cold and heat.

Cold road - cold tires - no way

Even in the teens the loss of traction is bad enough.

And in minus temps, things break.

I have heated gear and like riding in when it's cold. Buy not interested in that ride at all. If I ever try that, please have me committed.

I haven't watched London to Beijing, but I have been watching this guy on YouTube ride from India to Mt Everest, he also rode a Road King to the tip of Australia, this guy has some balls.
