07 Screamin Ultra, any worth while mods?
« on: March 12, 2007, 08:54:37 PM »

Hello all,

After just coming back from Florida, and putting on 900 miles in 2 long days of driving (St Pete to Ket West to Orlando), Ive decided on buying an 07' Screamin Ultra....Black and Orange paint...due in by 1st of April...

My current bike is an 03' Road Glide Fully customed. (Big Bore kit, Hooker pipes w/ baloony cuts, Fat tire kit, custom paint and wheels, Corbin LOW seat, apes, braided lines, custum brakes and pullys ect...ect...)

Anyway, After 4 years of good service, I am now into full dresser mode. I think the new ultra will serve me well, and will surley be ALOT more comfortable on long cruising.

I have my normal list of asthetic mods planned (Black forks Up and down, Black F/R crash bars, and Black side bag handles)

I was planning on leaving the pipes and air breather alone...BUT.....ANYONE have GOOD luck on Aftermarket pipes and Air that made any difference? Looking for better in and out air.....Good sound but not ungodly loud enough that the tunes cannot be heard (hence my current set up above)

Any input?

TH

1st Welcome  :welcome_005:

I have a SEUC². If I had to do it over again I would keep the Rineharts but add the Thundermax with Autotuner! You're gonna need to change those pipes out ASAP to cool off the engine and increase performance.

After Delivery of the SEUC2, I will most likely sell it. No need for two. Its treated me fine and took me to and fro without complaint.

Its time for it to seek out a new home.

I agree. Thats why I am going the path of the SEUC2. But......one of my downfalls seems to never leave anything alone. .......To make a few visual cues that might make her stand out from another.

....As for the exhaust....I have always been a fan of opening up a free'er flowing exhaust... and also bringing more air in.

If I am not mistaken though, the SE has a high flow air filter breather system already.....

..... What I was asking is if anyone has changed out exhaust yet on the ride, and to what benifit with what brand type.

Goal is less heat and a better sound. BUT, not so loud that the sound system becomes defunct.

....I think this bike will change my mind about long trips and even shorties as well.  This will be my first full blown tourer.

TH,

Know what your saying with changing your mind set but to be honest my next scooter will be a Road Glide - loaded up

As far as Exhaust for the new 110 I am not sure I would have a recommendation but for a 103 - My personal opinion is the Freedom Exhaust

I think your scoot didn't come with a factory high flow, I think the SERK3 did but not the SEUC...I could be wrong

I am sure lots of the Jester 110's will give you some advice for the exhaust over the next 24 hours...sit back and get your reading glasses on

Hey TH, welcome aboard. Beautiful Glide man. One thing you'll get everyone to agree on here is to get that bike to breathe and fix the AFR with an ECM mod!. What to use, is a different story. Your SEUC does not come with the SE Air Cleaner ass'y. I use the Doherty Power Pacc, like many others here. My SERK comes with the SE A/C, but I like the Doherty unit much better.

The exhaust is more debatable about what to use. Basically, you want True Duals with performance Hi-flow mufflers, or a good, hi-performance 2:1 set up. Sound is subjective and everyone's threshold for loud is different. I wanted the best performance without the sound too loud. I went with the V&H TD's and S&S SPO Hi-perf. mufflers. I love the sound. Not everyone likes the looks.

The most important thing you must do is to set up the AFR by making some type of ECM mod. The 3 that we see most common here are: Dynojet Power Commander III USB w/O2 Eliminators. This is an add-on device to tune your engine with. SERT (Screaming Eagle Race Tuner), a HD program that is usually tuned by HD dealers. There aren't a lot of good tuners outside HD that can tune properly with this. And the ThunderMax with Autotune. This replaces your bike's ECM completely and with Wide Band O2 sensors, self tunes the bike constantly. It's probably the best one and is the most expensive.

This should give you a good picture of the first, most basic mods you must make to get rid of the heat and get a happy engine. Did you notice I said must! There are plenty of great threads here on all of these subjects. Take some time to read thru it. You're gonna be amazed at the wealth of knowledge that this place provides!

Good luck with the new bike and enjoy this great site!

Thanks Hoist. The AC and the exhaust I will do a little due dilligence on. Most likley an SE AC and Deff. True duals like I am running on my glide, just toned down a bit. The Hookers I run are deffinatley some HOWITZERS!!

...I hadnt thought about adjusting the Air fuel Ratio with a controller....but makes sense and will most likley look into a SE race tuner from the dealer.

Is there any Wobble to the 07' SEUCEG? My Glide has some up at speed and can be dialed out a little with Tire PSI, Shock PSI, and loaded weight.

No problem TH. If your dealer knows SERT well, it's a good program for tuning. Not many are really good with it. As long as they are, go for it. It needs that even if you left it stock, so don't second guess that mod.

I've had lots of RK's over the years. All FLH/FLT's do it to some degree. I installed a swingarm stabilizer system called True-Track. If it never wobbles again, it works. I only have 350 miles on it so too early to tell. My bike runs great and rides like it's on rails, so if it stays this good, all the mods are well worth it!
