Well she's gone.....
« on: March 13, 2007, 08:19:27 AM »

Traded in my SE last week, decided it was time to go back to a regular Ultra (with a 103"), the wife is certainly happier with a real backrest, that "lumbar support" hurt her from day one.  Wanted the '07 for a few other reasons also......so I got one.  Been fun here, I'll still hang around of course, but ya won't be seein my Green SE no more.

Good job FR8, when it's time to go it's time to go, glad you were able to make the move to the Ultra.

Can't imagine you won't be happy once you get it set up the way you want.

I'm going to be looking to add a Street Glide or other bike for the new house. I'll be interested in what you add or don't depending on if you miss an option from the SE or not.

Thanks d00d, but I don't think I'll be doing alot more to it (besides the 103" and absolute necessary chrome additions), probably even leave the stock exhaust <gasp>.  Had some tinnitus start up over the summer and the loud pipes just seem to make it worse.  Only thing that I'll definately be changing is the odometer.....have 4 long rides planned for this year already.....so I'm gonna see ALOT of seat time.  After having the SE though I HAD to get the 103" installed before delivery, just couldn't see going backwards on motor size.  This setup seems to have more power on the bottom end than the SE had, must be the 96" cams cause I only had the Stage I done.

Thanks R.....Really I've got everything that the SE had (minus the tons of chrome of course), except the XM, which I will probably miss, but I might get a new GPS with the XM in it, which would be nice since I could still get directions over the speakers and hear the XM at the same time.  We'll see.

I can appreciate that.  What about the bluetooth?  I wonder if that is something that would swap for guys if they on to a newer bike without it or does it only work on the HK? I think I'd miss the bluetooth most.

Anyway, enjoy the trips, I know many of us wish we could get out there with you.

Well the '07 bikes have the same radio, and I pulled my BlueTooth module/wiring before trading in, so when I get a chance it'll be going back on.  The CB isn't working on the new bike though so I'm waiting til they get a new module in for that before I add the BlueTooth in.  The '07 bikes also have an "ABS" light in the tach.....I was looking at a Police RK yesterday with it, it doesn't appear to be much to install, I'm hoping to see a retro-fit kit (or find a wrecked Police Bike) for the ABS before long.  Would be a great addition after watching my brothers work on his GoldWing, that big a$$ bike stops QUICK.

Nice bike, F...making the wife happy is always a good thing... :2vrolijk_21:  I'm assuming you let the new cams, etc go with the SE or did you ever get them installed?

Of course, you're always welcome here no matter what you're riding...I've always enjoyed reading your posts.

Thanks.....left most of that stuff in the SE, the cams moved the power to high in the R's for me, it was almost dead til about 3200, then it would nearly lift the front end.  Did pull the T-Max/AutoTune though, it's sittin the geerage waitin for me to decide what I'm gonna do.

That's one of the more interesting things I've read in a long time.  The "old" police bike version was a huge thing that wasted most of a saddlebag.  As well as it might be described what and where was this hardware on the new police bike you saw?

If it really did look like it was a stand alone installation that would be great.  Separated harness and a little new hydraulic plumbing.  Then again other easy retro-fit options like the Harmon Kardon radio or the power saddle bag locks Harley still hasn't made available to the public.  So it makes one wonder how they'd do something truly useful and important like ABS.

Yeah I'm not basing that hope on anything other than a hope.....but ya gotta have hope.. ;) Yeah it looked like it would be a bit of a deal to install, but certainly doable, kinda like those guys that put the HK radios in their older bikes (LOL).  Hadn't really thought about it til I saw that RK with it yesterday.....just got the old wheels turnin in my cranium...
