This has to be a first.

I called in at my local dealers yesterday to enquire about the cost of a new Kingsize windshield for my new SERK so that I can fit a Clearview windshield to the hardware. I thought I would ask if they had any in the workshop that they had removed from other Road Kings first. The Dealer rep told me to go through the back and see one of the mechanics.

So, off I trotted to see the mechanic. he looked in the store and spotted that they had two, one of which was in as new condition. I then went back out to see the rep and told him that they had the one I wanted. I asked how much they wanted for it and he said I could have it for FREE

Yehaaaaaa - makes the World seem a rosier place !

Yep it was a fully functioning Harley Davidson Dealer !

Free and Harley are two words I believe I have never heard uttered together.
Saturday hot dogs are free at the stealership but it is provided through the hog chapter....and donations are expected.

My  35VLD is getting assembled this week, yippee!

None of this makes sense to me. 

There must have been a misunderstanding.  I am sure that they meant a "free" one day trial, or "free" of a warranty, or "free" installation.  Anything but "no cost."  This is like some weired Twilight Zone episode!!  "Imagine if you will, a man walks into a Harley-Davidson dealership and leaves with a free windshield.  He's just encountered the Twilight Zone."

before investing money in the clearview,,  try using that stock one for awhile.  you might find you really like it,,,  and you can use that money on some more chrome.

That's not a bad idea H. Only problem is, is that the lexan on the King Size screen is slightly marked in one place and I don't think I could put up with that on my shiny new SERK. I also really fancy the idea of the grey tinted recurve Clearview windshield so the $ will have to be spent. As for more chrome I think I have already caused a world shortage with the stuff I have on order

Hey Ghost - I could get used to that Twilight Zone. It's a nice place where good things happen and your bank account doesn't keep reducing.

I've been racking my brains to think of something else that they may have in the workshop which has a FOC price sticker on it.

Just ask them to put everything they have for free in a box (or serval boxes), you take first pick of what you want, and the send the rest to Howie and me.  We'll make sure everthing gets properly allocated between us.

That won't be hard from my end.  My local dealership has Never, Ever, Ever, given away anything for free.  They consider 10% off to be "clearance."  And now that they have remodeled and doubled their size, I expect them to start charging me a "cover charge" just to come in the building.
