new front speakers
« on: April 13, 2019, 10:02:45 AM »

Going to have the front fairing open for some other work and wondering about replacing the speakers. 2015 CVO StreetGlide….I remember issues that some speakers don't perform well with the factory amps. Anybody keep the stock amps and upgrade the speakers?? What are people using??

Did anyone do Focals without an amp upgrade? Does the factory amp have enough power? Are Focals a big improvement over stock when replacing speakers only?

Thanks

I have tossed around this issue many times. If you're going to stay with the stock amp on a CVO there are zero options for direct replacent. You can go with an aftermarket speaker but those are 4 ohm and you will lose a lot of volume. I tried the JR Rokker speakers with the CVO amp and it didn't work.

Since I went with a non CVO bike this time I replaced the stock front fairing speakers with JR Rokkers and they are so much better than stock. I am about to order the JM Rockker amplifier since I don't have an amp in my Road Glide Special.

Unfortunately Harley-Davidson mucks up there audio systems so badly it's hard to just change speakers. It's even worse in the CVOs. I called JM Rockker twice and got two different technicians who confirmed their speakers do not work with the CVO amp set up.

No, but focal speakers are top notch. Spend the money and do it right if you want great audio! On my cvo limited , I have focals in all 4 stock left locations driven by a focal sport amp and a Rockford fosgate  dsr1 signal processor. It’s great!

I have used Focals in the past, but not without changing or adding another amp. So pretty much no options with the stock amp....Then I guess it stays stock for now. Thanks for the responses.
