Palo Duro Canyon Trip
« on: March 14, 2007, 10:50:59 AM »

Just returned from a good, albeit wet and cool trip to the Texas Panhandle are of Palo duro/Caprock Canyons. This area is referred to as a mini Grand Canyon. This was my first time there, and I agree. Me and a friend only had three days, so this area fit our schedule. Rain, and two mornings of "extreme fog " cut out a few miles, but overall it was a great trip with some beautiful scenery. The Caprock portion got cut short due to fog.  On the trip home we approached a little town just east of Childress and couldn't see the red lite due to the fog and we both slid thru the intersection, so we decided it was time for a long breakfast stop.  Can't say enough good about good rain gear and heated Gerbing equipment. Made the weather a non-factor.  I purchase a new Canon 630 right before the trip, so I'm going to try to post a few pics. Been having problems getting them sized right.

One of my riding buddies just made a camping trip to Texas with his son and visited Palo Duro.  He has the same Blue SE Road Glide.  I see why he wanted to visit the park.  Thanks for sharing the photos!

Thanks guys.  Ya know, after three days of riding in the rain/fog, we decided it still beats the heck out of working three days in the rain/fog.   ;D

Pretty interesting what was done to rear of that 01 Blue SERG, with the 2 into 1 pipe and the altered saddlebags. Didn't we hear about one like that that was for sale about a year ago? Kool looking bike. Thanks for the pics!

Hobo, don't know about the one for sale a year ago, but my buddy bought this one as it sits about a year ago in TX . He called me and gave me some info, including price, $17K, and he bought it that day.  We both agreed that it would be worth more without the mods, but they were done well, and the paint is spot on.  We believe it's the Arlen Ness Mess Kit, and the original fender is still there, so all he would need to return to stock is a set of saddlebags painted to match, and the painter is local, so it was a good deal for him.  He gets mostly favorable comments from lookers, but the stock tire under that huge fender needs to grow. We've run about 10K miles together, and it runs like a champ. When we do roll ons, my bike , an 06, 103 with the same 3.37 gearing, he usually pulls me up until about 4K rpm, them I pull ahead. As far as we know, it's stock with a PC and the fatcat.

I think it was the one that was discussed here about that time. I hope a lot of you get to get out and have a good ride today. I'm working till 6:00pm, peddlin' trucks. And our weather forcast for tomorrow in SW MO isn't looking great.
