I have watched some videos and have talked to several in this industry about sump cavity in the m8 engine.  I have seen the “must do” mods.  From installing scrapper to removing bolt and grinding out embossment.

For conversation sake.  Here is the right hand case of a 2001 B engine.  I don’t remember these having sumping issues.
